Don't like the bloke, but felt he gave a handsome resi speech just now on Sky News. Looks like he's fallen on the grenade and saved Ross....

Maybe Ross phoned Brand and offered him a sweetener!? LOL!

Not sure what is amusing you so.

I'd imagine, given how fast is star is rising right now, a late night Radio 2 show is the least of his priorities. He's been given a convenient get-out so can further concentrate on other, and probably far more lucrative, things.

pardon me?

It's not the most plesant way of voicing your dislike of someone is it?

Granted, Brand has been leading up to this, by constantly behaving in the most pureile fashion, he has got exaclty what he wanted, noteriety for his "pushing back of boundaries" but that is all. I predict he will all but disappear off the scene in the next couple of years, assuming some nasty STD doesn't see to him first.

No chance at all...

September 12, 2001 - fired from MTV for turning up at work dressed like Osama bin Laden (note the date).

2002 - sacked from Xfm for reading out porn on a Sunday afternoon.

His profile has never been higher and he stands a very good chance of really breaking the States, unlike many before him. He doesn't do drugs (any more), doesn't drink and is a veggie weirdo. He'll live long and prosper.

Brand is not very funny by any standard of comedy, I don't think he will be missed

You need to learn the difference between opinion and fact.

Besides, the radio show was but a small part of his repertoire - there'll be plenty more of him about for the hundreds of thousands of fans.

Indeed. He's been recording his Radio 2 show from Hollywood most weeks recently, and is about to tour the US.

This will make no difference to his career.

In fact, it will enhance his reputation among many - certainly those who despise the Daily Mail (and Britain's 'mock outrage' epidemic).

The worst part of all of this is that it means no more Matt Morgan, Russell is on TV a lot these days, and in movies etc. But rarely see Matt, and he is Hilarious.

I’d imagine HBO or Showtime will make him an offer he can’t refuse - HBO have already signed up Gervais and will be on the prowl for any other Brit stand up comics they see as ‘edgy’

Quite a dignified and honest apology. I don't think it's fair to ascribe today's resignation purely to career motives - I sense he's genuinely sorry. Though there's no doubt he's going to continue to be successful.

Ross, on the other hand, has fewer obvious career options and I hope he's worried about the public backlash. His show is just one long knob joke and an excuse to flirt with people he fancies or have juvenile banter with mates like gervais. There's only so many "f*** offs" and penis size references that I can be bothered with for my licence fee at prime time.
