At the risk of offending those who only want to see BHA Threads, the two by-elections from today will be most interesting.

The lovely Nadine with her not bothering with MP Surgeries etc. has probably caused most Tory Voters not to bother as well?

Expectation management.

ie: Bollocks.

Governments don't tend to lose byelections in rock-solid seats.

I think the expected result is 1-1, with the Tories holding Mid Beds.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Tories hold both, they’re two of the safest seats in the country, the swing will be interesting.

To put it in context, Labour need a 19% swing for a Parliamentary majority, to win Tamworth requires a 21% swing. Mid Beds more than that.

Labour camp 'confident' of Tamworth win

With the turnout figures in, a Labour source tells us they are very confident they have taken Tamworth from the Conservatives.
There is still lots of counting to do here, but there are some glum-looking Conservative faces in the hall.
It would mean Labour have overcome a Tory majority of more than 19,000, the sort of result they’ll need to replicate elsewhere if they are to win a general election expected next year.

Growing optimism from Labour in Tamworth

Labour are feeling a little more optimistic than they were earlier.
At the start of the night both sides felt it was too close to call.
Now, Labour figures at the count in Tamworth feel pretty confident.
That, in itself, is quite interesting at this stage as parties tend to always want to manage expectations...

Labour have won Tamworth. Reform, UKIP and Britain First actually took a total vote more than the winner's majority. You'd presume that voters of all three would have leaned Tory had they not stood.

Tory candidate leaves immediately

The Conservative candidate in Tamworth rushed off stage pretty immediately from the closest fire exit after the result and appears to have left already. The successful Labour candidate didn’t get a handshake.

Not up by choice (stupid baby), but at least there's something cheerful on the news. :)

GE can't come soon enough to clear out the self-serving rabble. I do feel a bit sorry for the (few remaining) decent Tories, but maybe they should form a new party if they can't purge the c***s that took over.
Hopefully the country will show enough patience - it'll take a long time to sort out the mess Labour will inherit.

Is it too late/early for a celebratory glass of wine? :lolol:
