Buying a £400 bike

A mate at work wants to buy a Specilized Sirrus 2006 - cost £399.

Is there a better bike for that price and/or for a lower price.

He will use it for commuting in London.

Cheers LC

Specialized are good bikes, he wont get alot better for £400. get him to get a good lock and lock it everytime hes not on it !!

Get him to check if his company can be involved in the gov. bike to work scheme. We are here, it means we can get 50% off any bike at Halfords (ps Halford will order you anybike you want upto £1500) and its tax free 0% interest for 12 months..

Tell him to get a Chopper. You can get one with the gears on Ebay.

Derailleur gears are naff. Hub gears and hub breaks are the reason for spending £400 on a bike. Specialized only do derailleur.

With all the accessories and lights and the biz, it may come to more than that.
