Veteran Brighton defender Guy Butters has signed a new one-year contract.
The 34-year-old, voted player of the year by supporters last season, said: "I'm delighted, especially when a lot of players are struggling for clubs.
"I was disappointed a couple of years ago that I didn't show my full potential in Division One, so this time hopefully I can show what I'm about.
"The squad has improved and we are fitter. We are looking forward to the new season," he told the club website.
Meanwhile, Simon Rodger is on course to end 10 months of injury frustration by returning to pre-season training with the Seagulls this week.
Rodger was dogged by toe and back problems last season but boss Mark McGhee is confident he will soon be back playing.
He said: "Simon has entered into his rehabilitation with gusto. We are now looking to try and get him a game or two in pre-season."
