In my day the bus routes were always gritted and, as the buses ran more frequently then,so those routes would always be passable. Now the wuss'es on the buses pull the service for barely a flake of snow ... ego chaos !

I remember the buses running to Whitehawk with snowchains on back in the 60s and 70s.

Thanks Greens :(
Have they got Anti-Lock Brakes I wonder? It would mean that in slippery conditions, they'd just carry on going with full brakes applied, risking life and limb ???

Brighton Hove Bus and Coach Company: Latest News: Roadwork Disruptions

Serious Weather Disruption
7.55am Thursday 7 January

Due to the icy conditions all roads in the area are very treacherous. We are out checking bus routes and we do now have buses running some services as shown below. On some routes where buses are running they are less frequent than normal.

We have fitted snow chains to some coaches and we are using these on service 7 so we can provide a service to parts of the city that normal buses cannot reach. As soon as the 7 route becomes passable with normal buses we will divert the snow-chained coaches to more outlying areas.

We have reached an agreement with Southern for Saver bus tickets to be valid on trains within the local area this morning. If buses can't reach your area but you live near a station and have a Saver ticket then you can use your Saver on the train.

1 - running between Portslade, Health Centre and Old Steine

2 - running between Shoreham High Street and Old Steine

5 - running between Sackville Road and Preston Circus. We hope to extend further up the A23 shortly.

7 - a limited service is running between George Street and Marina along the normal route using coaches fitted with snow chains

11X - running normally

12 - unfortunately having tried to run buses on this route we now have buses stuck, so for the time being we are unable to operate on this route. We will resume as soon as possible.

25 - we hope to start running this service along the Lewes Road shortly (the previously mentioned journeys between Lewes Road and Churchill Square only are now incorporated into the 49 which is running through to Portslade)

49 - running between Lewes Road Garage and Portslade

Yeah, would be Kingston Ridge I should think, I don't like the idea of walking up from the bottom of Lewes High Street on ice!
