Apparently Ben Burgess will sign tomorrow, Brighton & Hove Albion & Hull City have agreed a deal that will see the striker arrive in time to go staright into the squad to face Nottingham Forest away on Saturday.

This came from a Hull Cty supporter who was given this as the reason to Burgess's late withdrawal from Hull reserves this week.

The Article:

Blackpool remain confident of landing Hull City striker Ben Burgess this week after tabling a bid in the region of £100,000.

The Mail understands that the Seasiders have made an official approach for Burgess and currently await a response from City.

Manager Phil Parkinson remains evasive on the future of Burgess, who is yet to start a game this season, but could be willing to part with the striker if the sum was right.

Brighton and Bradford City have also been linked in recent weeks with the 24-year-old now at full fitness after a six-month lay-off last season.

Sources in Lancashire suggest Blackpool have made Burgess their number one target ahead of the August 31 transfer deadline.

Blackpool are known to be an admirer of Burgess with City chairman Adam Pearson confirming an approach.

Any exit of Burgess could hinge on City looking elsewhere themselves but Blackpool boss Simon Grayson remains hopeful of securing the striker.

"I am close to maybe doing a couple of deals," said Grayson. "I can't work any harder at bringing in players than I already do."

Having sold Billy Paynter to Southend for £200,000 10 days ago, City boss Parkinson still has several attacking options.

Jon Parkin, Darryl Duffy, Nick Barmby and Craig Fagan have all figured this season, although Stephen McPhee remains two months away from fitness after a serious knee injury.

However, Burgess remains the only back-up to Parkin in the target-man role and Parkinson has voiced his liking of the 24-year-old.

He said: "Big target men are not easy to find in football.

"Ben has missed a lot of football in the past few years but he's getting that back on the training ground."

SAM Ricketts played for over an hour in Wales' 0-0 draw with Bulgaria in Swansea last night before being replaced by David Vaughan.

OUT-OF-FAVOUR Hull City winger Stuart Elliott looks set to play for Northern Ireland in their friendly against Finland in Helsinki tonight.

As i've just said in another thread my mate at BBC Radio Humberside still thinks that Blackpool are favourites to sign him.

If he is arriving I hope it's for a really stringent medical before we even think about putting pen to paper.

On NSC for over two decades...
Reasons why Burgess will go to Blackpool:

1) Blackpool have some financial backing.
2) Blackpool have a half-decent stadium (literally), which is half a decent stadium more than we do.

We have some financial backing.

They have a half decent stadium, but we have a half decent team and a half decent chance of getting back into the Championship, which is more than they do.

But it sounds like he's off there anyway. Ho hum.
