In Saturdays Argus a certain Henry Page of Newhaven says that we should build the stadium next to the proposed incinerator, then all Brighton's rubbish can be dumped together.

Sounds like a good idea.

All round to Yorkie's for pre-match meal, half time drinks & after match piss & dump.
:lolol:

Just read this, the bloke quotes from clubsincrisis, but seems to have missed that the league will not let us build in Newhaven. Time for another letter I feel.

I'll second that:clap2:

We can build it into the oval park. The Lido will hide it from one side and it'll blend into the landscape. :jester:

Rather a stadium than a bunch of pikeys hanging about on their scooters!

Does Newhaven fall outside the maximum distance from the City?

Far better to build the incinerator at Falmer, next to the Albion's stadium, rather than pair the two up at Newhaven.

Incidentally, the fact that the Football League laid down a requirement that the Albion should return to a stadium with a maximum distance from the Royal Pavilion - as a condition for permitting a temporary groundshare with Gillingham - is not a PLANNING consideration that would be considered relevant by any local planning authority faced with an application by the Club for a new ground. The local planning authority would simply assume that the Club would be able to get permission from the Football League to play there.

That said, where we are today is that Prescott has said that he is only interested in whether there is a suitable, affordable, available alternative site to Falmer that is within the conurbation of Brighton and Hove.

My employer's premises are on the land where the proposed incinerator is going, it is very unstable and hopefully this may prevent the building of it. If the stadium was to be built in Newhaven it would probably be at east side (Turkey Town) where there is an unused railway station. Falmer is still the best site in my opinion though.

I don't have a problem with the incinerator.
There has been one in Huddersfield for the whole 8 years that I lived there.
It was within 300 yds of the McAlpine stadium and a mile of my house.

There were one or two objections (literally) when it was proposed but once built, no one had any problems with it.

I want the ground in Brighton and Hove but I sometimes wonder whether the so called "city" really wants it - perhaps it would serve it right if the ground ended up in Newhaven or Shoreham.
