Buckley, KLL, Noone...

In post match interview Poyet talks about bringing on Buckley and KLL, asking how do you defend against that? And it's true. We have such an embarrassment of riches now, bringing on those two we went from being fairly comfortable to pretty much unplayable. With Vicente to come too it must be an absolute nightmare for the opposition!
I can honestly say i've never experienced anything like this as an Albion supporter.

Buckley did well and Lua Lua showed signs that he's getting back to where he was pre-injury.

I liked it that we're showing positive intent with substitutions at 0-0 in away games. Many managers would settle for the point and bring on a holding midfielder.

Buckley is very talented. I can't believe how good he is, we're fortunate to have him. Premier League class, no doubt.

Superb to have, best i have known and i know Gus likes players to play various roles, but having that 4th genuine wide option within the club now,is,what we have been crying out for,in order to sustain a challenge.

Wingers blow hot and cold, dips in form, injuries suspensions etc have showed already that 3 was not enough....Vicente-the icing on the cake.

Assuming this is the interview I've just listened to on the BBC.
For me the most telling part was the last few second, as Gus went on to say, words to the effect of:-

'I could have taken a forward off (after we scored), but it was going so well I didn't want to ruin it'.

To me that's pure class, how many times does a defensive substitution end up going wrong as the pressure becomes to much, to soak up.

It's also a nice sign of his confidence in the whole squad that Poyet feels able to take off someone like Noone, who has been the game-changer more often than not this season.

I'd like to see 2 wingers from the off as if they'd had longer we may have had a greater victory

I was listening to the Steve Bruce interview and 606 on the way home; a mackem was running through Sunderland's attacking options... give me Gus's attack every time!

To be fair, the other wingers haven't been 100% fit lately so were always likely to be on the bench.

As would I BUT one of the secrets to our success has been playing effectively 1 winger and 3 CMs. Then either full back / one of the centre mids covers the other flank and works that bit harder. It used to be Dicker drifting to the left last yr. Very, very clever.

I haven't made away games yet to see WB, but will always feel in debt to him for giving us that amazing finale on August 6th. Class.

I think he could do a malongo (??) and spend the rest of his time with us doing absolutlely nothing of any note and he would still be a bit of a legend thanks to those goals agaisnt donny.

Indeed. The greatest moment of my Albion supporting life. Will never get over it.

Poyet is streets ahead of other managers with his tactics. He is so astute and not only picks the team to suit the opposition, but knows the timing of a substitution to perfection.
