BT infinity broadband is absolutely brilliant for me!

Same for me. Get 45ish download and 5 upload. Never had an issue with BT in the 10 years or so I have been with them.

I signed up to BT Infinity about a month ago and it is terrific with the Home Hub 4. I can't comment much on their support as I haven't needed it - just the way I like it! In terms of phone calls, however, I have racked up more charges than I would have elsewhere.

I signed up to Sky around the same time for TV. There has been a few issues, but nothing to do with the quality of picture I get on my TV which is absolutely fantastic.

I was with Virgin previously which was a nightmare experience - so much so that I was awarded lots of compensation and they also let me out of my contract one year early. The internet was off more often than it was on. I also had issues in other areas as well.

The point is, different people have different experiences and a lot seems to simply depend on luck!

If you have an NTE5 socket I would remove the faceplate and connect your router to the test port. This will rule out your internal writing. Try a different filter as well if you're able to.

If the problem goes away, then the problem is with your own setup/local environment. If it remains, then a good chance there being a problem with the BT network perhaps.

You've mentioned interference though... Does the problem happen all of the time? Or is there some sort of pattern to it.

REIN can cause issues however there is also SHINE. Basically REIN is generated from the duration that an appliance is switched on for. SHINE from when something is switched on or off so a single burst of interference. The device/appliance could either be faulty or just kicks out interference on frequencies used by ADSL.

I would do the test socket check though as first port of call.

When you say "dropping out" do you mean that the router is disconnecting or do you mean problems with connecting over Wifi?

Connecting over Wifi. Router shows all 4 blue lights on the BT2 hub. I,ll getb10 minutes and then nothing for a couple of hours and so on.

Done the test socket and also replaced the filter but still it persists.

We had a similar issue with sky broadband. After countless phone calls and a visit from the engineer, who could find nothing wrong, we eventually solved it by ........ putting in a new router. This despite being told on numerous that wouldn't be the problem.

Am going to try a friends one later to see. Have suggested that to our friends at BT but they have not accepted that that might be the problem. Maybe I should go straight to a laptop with a cable but does that prove anything ?

Got a home hub 2.0 sitting here that I know 100% works, only reason it's idle is because we upgraded to infinity 2 weeks ago.

If you're over this way you're welcome to pick it up and give it a go :)

Incidentally this is a replacement as our original hub refused to connect wirelessly to anything!

BT have already got that "massacre" scenario covered , they have other call centres in Bangalore and Delhi :lolol:

And the winner is ?..................Catfish with his..... Change the router channel. Well done mate its working fine now. Strange that the 187 experts in Delhi that I spoke to couldn't have mentioned that might be the way round the interference.

PS I owe you a whisky if you can break yourself away from your porn and venture out.
