So Bruno has tendinitis in his achilles. Any NSC doctors care to tell us how serious this can be

It can be a total ballache. I am no doctor but have it in both ankles.
Prevented me from running and inhibits what you can and can't do. However, although I still have it, the effects are minimal now as have orthotics and have also really upped my stretching (not just calves but hamstrings, back etc as all connected.
Healing time is a bit of a problem because that area of the body doesn't get a lot of blood flow.
Depending on the severity it could be very bad news....although expect with decent medical assistance, he can be nursed through the season.

Tendonitis is serious if left unchecked, however I'm sure Bruno will get the best treatment and could be back in less than a month

I snapped my achilles playing cricket a few years ago and was in plaster for 6 months and couldn't drive for a further 6 months...hurt like bloody hell and new get tendinitus in my other achilles every now and again.
I feel for the lad as it is very uncomfortable

I guess this is the price we are going to have to pay for having top quality, but ageing players at The Amex like Bruno, Bridge and Vicente.

I have it in one ankle, it used to be pretty bad and it'd balloon out into a cankle every time I played cricket or football. It's not so bad nowadays but still gets inflamed now and again. Can be very painful and dehabilitating, which is why I'm also prepared to give Vicente the benefit of the doubt on his thigh tendon problem.

I have it in my left and f*** me does it hurt when inflamed. I've had to miss several games at home because of it and all you can do is take anti-inflammatory tablets and pain killers, lots of painkillers.

because I take warfarin, I cant take anti inflmatories ( anything ending in fen) so when it does flare up, its just ice and rest for me

I feel for you, I have Dicoflenac Sodium tablets and they help with the swelling and I have 600mg Ibuprofen tablets from Spain for the pain.

I have had exactly the same thing and it manifested itself as a lump on my achiliies - was very painful at times and was difficult to start to run and walk. Clearly i am not a professional sports man - but had a scan eventually on the NHS and the only treatment they recommended was rest and anti inflamorties - I suggest he takes some nurofen and stops being a big girls blouse!! (Seriously painful).
I had it when I was playing and it can be a nasty one to try and clear up.
Some are implying that their experience of tendinitis is similar to gout, but mine and others I know who have experienced this is very different.
It only really hurts when the tendon is active or if you physically pinch the sore area, so it would need to be managed carefully, which of course it will.
Seems quite an unlikely time for it to happen, as usually this might occur pre season and mine was due to continuous running on hard ground.
Again it will depend what grade of tendinitis it is, might just need a few days rest but something more niggly could effect him throughout the season.

My wife suffers from a severe form and last June her tendon snapped. After 2months in plaster and further 2 in a support boot she is now gradually getting around but struggles with driving and is in constant pain. Surgeon says that it may never be 100% and could take up to 2yrs for the pain to go!
