Broadband - What can I do with this then?

I got broadband today, predominantly because my mates told me how great it was. Any ideas on how to best utilise this new toy?

Also any additional stuff I need to do? So far I have downloaded a firewall from Zonelab, updated XP fixes , subscribed to Norton Anti-Virus and downloaded Direct X so I can play games. Have I missed anything?

All advice/help much appreciated as I have reached my 'techy' knowledge limits already!

though i hav'ent done it myself yet, its the downloading of music from the web, where broadband comes into own and of couse pictures and films.

also are you NTL , if so you can pick up seagulls worlds for free.

Get kazaalite and Emule or whatever your favourite peer to peer program is, and download unlimited music and films. Why walk to the video shop when it only takes about a week to download a film...

Having Broadband and not downloading music is a crime in itself.

Get all the latest tunes and albums that aren't even out yet in a matter of minutes. I couldn't live without it.

Doesn't seem very easy to download, I just had a go and it wouldn't work!

go to the bitconjurer.org page and download the windows installer, make sure you dont get the red hat one (f*** knows what it is) as thats the one at the top of the page.

the suprnova.org site goes down sometimes, as its targeted by the yank movie authorities, etc.

on this page right click on the file you want and save as to a folder on c. i.e. i use the folder c:/bittorrent

once youve saved it double click on it to open the file then when save as comes up, this is the ACTUAL thing your gonna get, ie the movie.

once you save as to where you want itll start dloading.

if you stop dl at any time just re-double click the first file you saved (the 'torrent file') and as long as you save to the same place you did the first time it'll continue from where it left off.

i'm crap at explaining and it sounds a bit complicated but once youve done one or two, itll be the piece of piss it is.

the bittorent file sharing system is f***ing a1, when 24, friends, west wing, etc are running in the states you can download the dvd quality rips the day b4 the states show them

i.e. 24 season 3 starts in october

best thing to do is read the faqs on either of the websites...
