He missed out the M20 in his list of motorways we went along to get to Gillingham. This is just dreadful.

one criticism......it's too short

Yeah i thought the same. Thought there was another page coming. I thought it would go on to talk abouts the trials and tribulations at the Withdean and then what we can look forward to at the Amex. Seeing his Donny ticket makes me want to go home and find mine and make sure its still safe :)

Agreed with above, very abrupt and was looking forward to a lot more. Try to convince them to do a part 2, as it is very well written.

Larry from L here, aka Julio.
How many roads were there on the way to that god foresaken place? As well as missing the M20 I also missed out the A259 and A27 that we had to trudge along. Looking back I can't believe we did that every week, and sort of perversely enjoyed it.

Maybe there will be a part 2 to this...always leave them wanting more as they say. The piece was meant to sum up the feelings of finally moving onto our future. In even fewer words...never forgive or forget. Never forgive those who ripped the guts from our club and never forget those who stuck by and saved it.

Someone mentioned going through the Withdean years - even though we have enjoyed success here I can't say that I look back with any fondness on the Withdean years. Let's call them the interegnum years and next season we can start properly once again.

Yours in sport

Yeah agreed an excellent article, if somewhat truncated. Just one thing though, what did he mean about Donny Rovers being responsible for playiing some of the worst professional football ever played on these shores in that last ever game at the Goldstone?. They werent quiite that bad surely.

I was referring to the Fans Utd day at Gillingham, which was quite probably the most inept 90 minutes of football anyone has ever witnessed. And in those years we had a few games against which to judge it as that.

On Valentine's Day - remember it all-too well. Think I was expecting another Hartlepool. The 0-0 scoreline flattered both teams; -5- -5 would've been more suitable!

I don't want to spoil part two for anyone but in a sneak preview I can exclusively reveal it will include thrilling stories of mammoth pre-match sessions in The Caxton Arms (Larry decided early one season that 13 pints was a reasonable target for a pre-match) as well as an interview with the over zealous train guard who confiscated his (vast) underpants on the way home from Barnsley in the late 80s.
