Lansdowne Place, Hove
Slug & Lettuce on George Street. The people more than the place itself. Wetherspoons on George Street falls into the same category.

Hop Poles in Brighton. Overpriced, dingy, unpleasant people and cramped.

Anything inside the boundary set by West Street, North Street, Old Steine and the sea.

Whilst Wetherspoons is a bit grim I actually think the annoying aspirational types in Slug and Lettuce are much much worse.

That Noble House in Hove is awful as well. Full of coked up loud blokes in embelished jeans with shreeking dolly bird girlfriends pissed up on white wine. I read up on the place when it opened, and it sounded nice. So I arranged to meet Uter in there. I got there with the Frau and took an immediate dislike to the place so only ordered a half to minimise my time in the place. Uter arrived, took an even greater dislike and texted me to say he was not buying a drink and would wait for me outside. Horrible.

I've been in there once and didn't even get as far as ordering a drink. No thanks.

The Fishbowl is the same. East Street's awful.

The last time I was in the Fishbowl was a Sunday afternoon and a bloke was asleep at a table with his head in a plate of food. He eventually fell of his chair.

brighton, actually
chavverspoons seems ok, lately.. been no fights / loo floods, for at least a month.. and you can at least hear what mates are saying, without having to SHOUT above any music or tv

(they have 2 screens, on silent. unless there's some 'important' match on.. )

Is it heresy to say the Lord Nelson? To me it's not even a proper old boozer that doesn't appeal to all, it's just a bit crap, and I'm a fan of spit and sawdust.

I'd also like to nominate many of the tool cool for school pubs that Brighton seems to specialise in, with a particular nod to all those bar staff who find it oh so inconvenient to have to stop being immensely cool and actually serve you. I seem to remember the Western Front being of this ilk....

Is that Bohemia place still going? It's on Meeting House lane. Taking a look at the website it looks like a place owned and run by a complete cock, for complete cocks.

If we're including the whole City then I'd also have to give Misty's a mention. Coked up 50 year old divorcees singing Abba anyone?

The Nelson has been done up lately. The beer quality is better, the decor is better and it's expanding into next door soon, but is still a good old boozer.

Dagnammit, only just seen this thread. It's tricky because all pubs on West Street would win outright. As well as places like The Zone on St James. For me, far worse than places on West St, although they are awful, are places like Constant Service. A once great pub turned to crap by the coked up, self impressed nitwits that took over a few years back. Christ, the coke and depression are dripping off the walls in that place now.

The Buskers is an almighty hole too.
