P
Dave Day. He owns quite a few places around B&H although I am not sure he still owns Hove Place. You can often see him driving round in his Orange and Yellow cromed Bentley.

He's done a lot for himself for someone who essentially started out as a knocker boy.

Dave is excellent. Funny as ****.

Do not know. I really hate the 'shabby chic' decor of that place. Especially the outside, it just looks like it is about to fall down, weird thing to do, imo.

Traditional for that place, to me, is calling it The Pig in Paradise but I suppose someone older will be along shortly to tell us what it was called in the 70s.

The William Tell..

I couldn't get my list down to any less than 6:

The Cricketers Brighton
Hand in Hand Kemp Town
The North Laine Brighton
Bristol Bar Kemp Town
The Black Lion
The Hop Poles

I do like the new Dead Wax Social but doesn't really count as a pub but the vinyl theme works and good for a night out.

Thanks. You've saved me typing my favourite pubs out.

I'll remove The Westbourne and The Better Half as I don't know them. But, I'll add The Watchmakers in Hove as it's a nice little place which I want to well and I think you should all visit.

I forgot the Watchmakers, I've been there a couple of times a really welcome addition to Hove pubs.

The North Laine, shurely? Good food and some truly excellent beers, brewed on site.

A great example of a pub that's far, far better than its original incarnation: The Gloucester. A bag o' crisps, pickled eggs in a jar sort of place, IIRC .
Drinkers play second fiddle to grubbers on a Saturday lunch at North Laine with too many reserved signs on the tables so we moved out of there swiftish. I'm nominating Craft but then I'm an outsider. I've always found The Battle of Travalgar just so so.
