why, hes still very young and doing wonders in the reserves, and Wilkins obviously has faith in him. I will never forget his goal at Cheltenham last year, his first for the club. Give Rents AND Elder a chance.

To be absolutely fair, Nathan Elder has never come CLOSE to producing the goods. A step up in class too far. It's only cos we signed Bas Savage right at the death of the transfer window, and Bas made such an immediate impact, that nobody's paid much attention at all to the contribution of Nathan Elder. He's had a uniquely easy Albion ride in that respect. Sadly tho, the cognoscenti, having seen him in action often enough, have now pronounced he's not going to hack it. Get rid

Richards has improved with just about every game he has played for us. First left back for some time (maybe since Watson) who seems to be able to pass the ball with some accuracy.

How long do we have him for because we need to sign him methinks.

Elder has scored 6 iin 8 for the reserves who play Championship reserves in the Pontins league.
He had a poor game tonight but don't write him off yet.

More interestingly, how was Cox tonight?
If Martot did well enough to earn his place back, that only leaves room for him OR Jake R.

how many did gatting get in the reserves though....just because they can do it at that level, doesnt mean they can do it at senior level

Senior level are playing against league one clubs. The reserves are playing league one and championship reserves.

Thought he had a good game, went close to scoring a couple of times in the first half and only one piece of nonsense I can remember with a clearance. Passing and distribution were generally good and linked up well with Forster a number of times, particularly his second goal. Also won a few in the air (maybe I just didn't see the stepladder).

I think Elder still could have something to offer, but as far as last night goes he couldn't score in a brothel, as the saying goes.

Martot played well I thought, and his goal was well-taken. Looks like Forster is getting his form together, which is a huge boost for us.

Next round? I'm hoping for MK Dons (and that nice Mr. Knight) down here at Withdean.

We should have been 5-0 up at half time, but only went in 2-1
Sencond half we were lucky not be level at 2-2, they had loads of chances, but in the end a deserved win and score line.

Kuipers - when he mental for no apparent reason, that was the funniest thing I've seen all season

El Abd - please don’t play him at right back again, he is a liability and Orient will see him as the obvious weak point. Should have scored when he went clean through

Richards - gave the ball away in crucial areas at the back, but finally started putting some challenges in (kind of)

Lynch - good to see him back, made some great last ditch tackles

Butters - solid as ever, and showed all his experience with his positioning

Cox - looked great again for once, with some great flicks and through balls, could have scored - NO NEED for the GAY Soulja Boy dance

Martot - probably his best game, proved he can finish, still needs to score the EASY chances he always finds himself getting

Fraser - again was amazing in his natural position, winning challenges and making simple passes, I thought he was MOM until he came off

O'Callaghan - showed lots of flair, and some great vision with his passes. Even tackled their midfielders. Looks so much more dangerous higher up the pitch with Fraser supporting him

Forster - the best game he has played for us. When did he learn to run at defenders with PACE, he was brilliant and his 2nd goal was a quality finish

Elder - tried so hard, but just cannot finish. Had 2 sitters on the line he should have scored (which looked worse on TV), kept shooting too early and scuffing his shots. Maybe trying too hard. Somehow he looks like a clumsy version of Bas Savage

Why on earth would you want that? You just know he'll tear our defence to pieces and celebrate in front of the South Stand!

Didn't Martot's goal get a massive deflection?

I thought he was pretty poor generally. Forster was very good and got better as the game went on, the defence player very well and i thought Fraser looked bloody good

They hit the woodwork at 2-1, so things might have been different there.
Having that wake us up, and with them still thinking of going forward to get that goal - we hit them twice.

It's a lesson in the psychology in team sport.

Now though, The Albion have to re-adjust the collective psyche so as not to think we have Cheltenham 'in our back pocket'. They will bring a lot more support next week I expect, and their resolve and approach towards the match will NOT be one of readiness to roll over.

4-1 doesn't flatter us, as we have superior talent on the pitch. But we left it late to punish them properly - and DW must keep working on the attacking:finishing.
There's no time to stop working on that imo, so the assurance that "we have to work on that and we are looking at it in training" is one that I hope won't ever be seen to have been done.

Cox's through ball for Forster's 2nd goal made it easy for him. If attention is paid to creative passes like that (from all players in all positions) then Brighton can reach for the stars in this division and in the cups.

More chance of him ending up IN the S Stand-courtesy of somebody's (probably El Abd's) boot up his backside. That's if he plays-somehow think he wouldn't if we get them.
