Kusczack 7 - one world class save and generally sound handling

Bruno - 6 - poor first half, much better second

El-Abd - 7 - very solid display and on end of a lot of balls into the box

Upson - 7 - generally good, passing excellent but almost cost us an equaliser in the second half with a bad mistake

Bridge - 9 - outstanding, man of the match display

Hammond - 7 - did a decent job filling in for Bridcutt

Dicker- 8 - impressive return to the team

Vicente - 7 - brilliant first half, quieter second, got fouled a lot and booked in frustration before being subbed

Lopez 7 - cool finish, another decent contribution

Orlandi - 8 - surprised he was taken off

Ulloa - 6 - works really hard but looked tired today

Barnes - 6 - not much chance to shine

Mackail-Smith - 7 - gave them some problems with his energy

Greer 7 - got in a couple of good clearances during his few mins on the field

Cm Hammond - 7 won a lot of midfield headers and deputised well for bridcutt.
Cm dicker- 7 apart from one suicidal clearance thought he had a very good game.
Cm Vicente - 7 hit and miss today but a few glimpses if genius.

Str Ulloa 5.5 glaring miss not his best performance.

How some people are giving Vicente an 8 or 9 is beyond me. All opinion of course but I thought he looked sluggish today and nothing like what he can produce. Prefer him as a 30 minute player at the moment

decent performance, El-Abd and Vicente stood out, Burnley were feeble but I'd really want to see us punishing them rather than a weak 1-0.

Dicker 7 - few too many loose passes, but did have some neat turns and lay offs
Vicente 8.5 - very good early on, but like the team as a whole seemed to ease off
Lopez 8 - great composure for the goal
Ulloa 7.5 - seemed to stop challenging for the ball after the ref explained he needed to look at the ball not the player
Orlandi 8.5 - brilliantly linked up with bridge and vicente repeatedly, some great touches, brilliant awareness for the flick, probably edges man of the match for me

Barnes 6.5 - didn't do much of note after coming on.
CMS 7 - harried defenders a lot
Greer not on long enough, but did have a couple of key clearances

We were brilliant until the goal went in, then we seemed to take our foot off the gas. We had a few good attacks after that, but we were quite untidy losing possession a lot more than normal. It was a very crappy game. But we had the grit to grind out the win, which we have lacked before.

Tomasz Kuszczak 9 Magnificent save, came for crosses and didn't look concerned by having the ball at his feet. Very confident performance.
Bruno 4 Took his captain responsibilities seriously and spent a lot of time in the referee's ear about the niggly fouls. Poor performance.
Adam El-Abd 9 Getting better and better, seriously good player and one of the best centre backs in the league.
Matthew Upson 8 Some good interceptions and looks every bit the former England centre back, doesn't challenge in opponents box enough though.
Wayne Bridge 8 Superb performance, some fantastic crosses from the left and been an absolutely fantastic signing.
Dean Hammond 7 A few misplaced passes, but also some strong challenges and generally was neat and tidy.
Gary Dicker 7 Got a lot of abuse around me for being Gary Dicker, but what they don't see is his link play, which is superb and he adds a dimension.
Vicente 9 Oozes class all over the place. I loved his passion which got his booking, try telling me that man doesn't care.
Andrea Orlandi 7 Classy player, very important for us in the run in and we need him producing a but more than he did today. Good flick on for Dave though!
Spanish Dave 9 What a man. Left footed volley into the far corner and then celebrated like, "yeah, I do that". Supreme talent. What does he do?
Leonardo Ulloa 4 Poor in the air and on the ground, didn't do a lot and missed from a yard. Being carried at the moment, but there's a player in there.

Craig Mackail-Smith 7 Never troubled an overated goalkeeper who loves to concede but did his usual tireless work. Underated.
Ashley Barnes 6 A passenger, but did nothing to let us down.
Gordon Greer 7 Good interception, won a header and calmed things down at the back. The criticisms of him are totally misguided.

Overall, pretty standard game against average Championship opponents. They were good without the ball, reasonable up to the final third with it. We were the better team and deserved the win, it should have been several more. But they'll be disappointed not to have scored, only Kuszczak on form stopped them.

I fully agree with your thoughts on today. He had some really good moments, especially in the first half, but the first 25 minutes of the second completely bypassed him. I was convinced he was coming off when CMS and Barnes were getting ready to come on. I rated him a seven but I thought that was generous.

However, his performance against Blackburn warranted a start. Surely you can't argue with that?
