High up on the South Downs.
I am almost speechless after reading this thread.

Does Mendoza visit these pubs alone or with like-minded friends?

I could talk about visiting the Devonshire, Carlton Hill, in 1972 when it was a pub thatsold rough scrumpy. One of the locals sat at the bar saying "Eat good bread" repeatedly.

It used to be caps?! It's only been there about 2 months and for most of that time it had a sign up saying "name this bar". Looks a godawful place anyway.:nono:

It does look horrendous. The people inside look even worse. The Bees Mouth is a few doors up and is a lovely place.

Remember The Alliance in Edward Street?

THE place for strong cider at half the price of weak beer. Long since closed. :(

Sorry but think this boy/girl is talking rubbish. Can't see him/her drinking in gay pubs in kemp town unless you're gay/bi, like the bull dog. and besides it's inpossible to drink in all the pubs in Brighton as some shut and some new ones open.

And a thousand wouldn't!

why? so you think he has made up this idea, bothered to select 38 random pubs past or present in brighton and hove and posted asking for help on here for the sake of it? im sure a straight person could have one pint in a gay pub if he wanted, unless he was unstable with his/her sexuality..and it is possible for people to try and drink in every pub in Brighton, many will try it.

That's todays dose of common sense on NSC.

it started on new years day 2007 after a Christmas present given to me for Christmas was a Guide book to the pubs of Brighton and hove

you don't have to believe me but I've done none of the pubs on my own. A few here on NSC have drunk with me in them and another mate is trying to do them all too

in the original book, I'd say upto 20 have closed down, maybe 50 have changed names (some more than once) and maybe only a couple of new pubs sprung up

as for not going in a gay pub because I'm straight, that's the biggest load of nonsense ever. Why should there be a problem going into one. It doesn't mean you have to shag them.

Do you get offended by gay people straying and drinking in straght pubs?
