I went last year and they ran out of plastic pitchers BEFORE the first dart had even been thrown.

God knows how much money nthey lost for the sake of £100-worth of plastic pitchers.

Was it the same again last night?

In the bar at the balcony I had the last bottle of carlsberg before the first match, not sure if they got anymore in as I didn't want to miss any action queueing up for the piss-like taste of carlsberg.

They only had two barmaids which was a pretty poor effort, some people literally can't run a piss up can they :nono:

Back to the darts...

Klassen really isn't good enough for the premier league. I know he was the sky wild card pick along with Mardle (who also shouldn't be there) and they want some characters to bring in the punters, but the mismatches last night in the last 3 games were there for all to see (thought although Part looked resigned to lose he should be there).

Thornton, Tabern or Lewis would have been my picks.

It took about 45mins for a pitcher of wrongbow to turn up when we ordered it.
Great night, only good match was the first one ShevJENKO  was amazing after being 4-1 down, he turned on the style and thrashed that idiot Merv King

Taylor 170 check out was class, and I can now add that to seeing a Barney 9 dart finish live:clap2:

Was a great night, Andy Fordham even opened a door for me  Saw Co Stompe .... is a lot taller than he looks on tv. Mervyn King took loads of abuse from the crowd :ascarf:

Next year Gary Anderson and Mark Webster are bound to get the wild cards for next years PL.

Simon Whitlock also joined PDC yesterday .

Walk on girls were nice. :p

Doubt Anderson and Webster will get in unless they improve dramatically. Anderson cant get past the first round in the players championship weekend tourneys.

I said at the time the 2 wild cards were granted that I thought a mistake had been made in including both Mardle AND Klaasen ahead of Adrian Lewis.

The inclusion of Klaasen was a gamble that has simply NOT paid off. He's never really looked like winning any of his 7 matches and his throwing style has been exposed as being technically flawed.

Lewis is interesting and you can see why he didn't make the Premier League this time around. He's not particularly box office and he's never won a big tournament, but he is still young and did make the Last 4 in 2008, up from a 7th place finish in 2007.

At least you know Mardle will have 2 or 3 good perfromance in the 14-week season, i.e. his defeat of Barney in Brighton in 2008.

The bar and catering was an absolute bag of shite. The management need to visit the ally pally and learn how to cater for thirsty darts fans. They must of lost thousands from people giving up in the queues.

The centre doesn't deal with the bars and food,it is an outside company who rent the space from brighton council.

They were pouring 2 small bottles of Carsberg Export into a pint glass for a bargain £7!!!!

People were going mental £28 for 4 pints Jesus!!!

They ran out of pint bottles of carsberg before the darts started and the small ones were all thats left

Too many Pompey fans there as well, i thought it was going to kick off in Walkabout beforehand

Funny you should say that. they actually ran out for the people in front of us, who refused outright to pay £7 per pint and the staff gave in quickly. They then tried to do the same with us, at which point we reminded her that we had just seen the people in front walk away paying £3.50 a pint and we expected to do the same.

fair play to the girls, they were as efficient as they could be and I thought they were very professional in a bad situation.

Great night BTW.
