Funny you should say that. While I was in Siberia, I had the pleasure of staying with a family where the grandfather had travelled ON FOOT from Moscow to Berlin as part of the Red Army's WW2 invasion of Germany. 1,150 miles.

Blimey! I bet he'd have loved to have had someone to do it for him.

What about if the person running gets injured or worse. The organisers are very anti 'transfers' maybe respect that.

Why dont you butt out of my affairs. Whats it got to do with you? The person who does the race writes on the back of their race number a contact name and number in the event of an injury or worse.

I'm not breaking any laws (unless you can tell me otherwise)......given the sanctamonious tone of your posts you probably can.

Like i said butt out.

I don't think what you are doing is correct or indeed ethical. Someone else running the race in your name undermines the integrity of the event.

I actually entered last year's Brighton marathon two weeks before after somebody else came on here offering their place. Really glad I did it. I had entered four marathons in the past and had always got injured in the training for them. Although I had no time to train, I decided it would be good to just finally complete one. I ended up doing 3hrs 30mins in the end too!

This year I've entered in my own name!

I don't really care what you do or don't do. But perhaps you shouldn't post on a public forum if you're not prepared to accept that there will be views contrary to your own.

If you want people to butt out of your affairs, don't post your affairs on North Stand Chat.

Good luck whatever you do.

Good luck Beach Seagull. Somebody will be interested and there's absolutely nothing wrong with offering to sell it to people on here. I don't know what some people's problem is.

No it doesn't in the least. So what if the person who runs with my number is not me (I guarantee there will be many others taking someones elses entry on the day). As long as they dont cheat and they run the whole course i dont see what the issue is. Somebody cheating and say catching the bus for a few miles undermines the integrity of the event, somebody taking someones entry does not.

Earlier on you told me i should have offered my entry for 'nowt' would it have appeased you if i had done so and would it have spared me the 'ethical' and 'integrity' mantra??

In some ways i agree with you about the use of posting your affairs on a public forum, but i was not really expecting 'views' on what i posted. If i had said i think 'gus should be sacked and Bloom is a con artist' i would expect 'views' but offering an entry for the brighton marathon for half the price i paid for it to be is not really all that controversial and certainly not something that is particularly 'view provoking.'

I defered my place last week and took the £50 hit. I was going to sell it but didn't feel it was right given that there is a official waiting list.
