I really do not get people saying we got lucky with the VAR decision. Their boy in the middle, Verbruggen had to keep one eye on him, in which case he is interfering with play, end of.

And if the ref had done his job properly they would not have scored their first anyway as Downes would not have been on the pitch. That said, we fail to beat weaker teams far too often.
Indeed. It is either onside or it isn't.

They 'got lucky' when we hit the woodwork.

Funny old game?

Not really. Only Liverpool are beating who they are supposed to beat, this season. And even they lost at home to Forest.

It's the same every season for almost everyone. In the past 10 years only City consistently win all their expected games (apart from once against Palarse). Chelsea, Arse and Liverpool are pretty good. The rest - m'eh.

If there were a secret formula to making the 'on paper' expectation come to pass someone would have patented it.

Just caught up too with Sky Sports highlights. Don't know what all the fuss is about with the offside. Clearly half a yard offside, 8 yards from goal and the player makes a definite attempt to flick/heel the ball towards goal (albeit misses).

Really missed Baleba.

...

For 45 ish minutes Rutter is becoming one of my favourite players. Tends to fade.

...

Welbz looking a bit knackered. Wonder if it's time for Evan to get a start and let Danny freshen up a bit.

I think if Baleba starts and is on it, he'd have ripped them apart.

Georginio puts in a massive shift every game, more than anyone else I reckon. Not surprised he fades second half. Doesn't seem to pace himself, particularly when busting a gut to get back when defending.

And Danny took a knock last night too. Appeared to be limping for quite a few minutes afterwards. Hoping he's not another injury to add to the growing list.

Also concerned about Ayari and Mitoma who were scythed down in the last few minutes and limping really badly, but had to play the game out as no remaining subs 😕

What about strikers ? Danny Welbeck didn't go off after he had received treatment........
That's because the person causing the need for treatment was booked.

Hopefully, the outcome will be that you tell Mr.Jinx that his ticket got lost in the post.
Sadly, I've already shown him the tickets in my Google Wallet

I said to him before the game it will be 1-1, I've seen too many matches over the years when you just know what's going to happen by the end of the match. So frustrating but oh so predictable annoyingly. But fu*k me, we're SECOND. That's amazing

Well, if he's a true Albion fan, he'll say, "Dad, you go without me this time." :D

Last night on the train my son told me what I already know...."I'm a jinz aren't I?"

Games watched this season with him.......Ipswich, Wolves and Saints.

Last season......West Ham, Everton, Burnley

Every SINGLE game we've not won, and been pretty pants in the main. We've got tickets for the Brentford game on the 27th.......any thoughts on what I'm going to bet on the overall outcome being?!!!! ;):rave:

I can't believe you're considering taking him.

A frustrating game. Couldn't be bothered commenting on it last night as I was just a bit perplexed by it all.

Main thoughts this morning were

Really missed Baleba. Nothing wrong with o'reilly and ayari but together it's really lightweight. We were back to letting go of midfield in the start of the second half and no one having the seniority, experience or power to get a grip of it.

It made it easy for them to work the angles and keep playing in their wide players.

Ayari is lovely on the ball and it's good to see a good player wanting it so much but really lightweight and with no conviction
Round the box.

Had enough good chances to win by a mile. But then gave up a few scary moments in the second half. We never looked like scoring with our pressure late on though and generally speaking didn't think Saints were that bad.

Welbz looking a bit knackered. Wonder if it's time for Evan to get a start and let Danny freshen up a bit.

Mitoma looking dangerous, really fast and waspish. He's a really top level player (no shìt sherlock etc) .

Pedro was rubbish and spent most of the game complaining and whining. One shoulder barge that he didn't get seemed to put him out of the game for 5 minutes while he followed the red around throwing his arms up in the air.

We looked better with Dunk. More leadership.

Dibling (or 'Dwayne' as my adhd brain kept calling him) looked great for them. Seemed impossible to get off the ball. Seems to be a cross between Grealish and Steve Mcmanaman.
I don't agree that we looked better with Dunk. It made the side totally unbalanced with JP at
right back

JP and Igor have been tremendous and Lewis needs to earn his place or one of the two could be rested for a match
