TEAM NEWS

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk has overcome the minor hamstring problem that caused him to miss last week's win over Wolves.

Forward João Pedro is available again following his three-match ban while winger Kaoru Mitoma could return after missing four games with heel and back issues.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot did not report any new injury problems in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

When asked if the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold would feature, Slot said it was too early to say what the team would be.

  • The Seagulls have scored 13 goals in the last 10 minutes of Premier League matches this season - only Bournemouth, with 15, have netted more.
  • However, Brighton have also conceded 13 goals in the last 10 minutes of top-flight matches in 2024-24 - only Southampton have shipped more.
  • Danny Welbeck scored his 10th Premier League goal of the campaign last weekend, the first time he has reached double figures in 17 seasons.
  • Welbeck has been involved in four goals in his last five Premier League appearances against Liverpool, scoring two and assisting two.
Liverpool
  • Liverpool are in danger of going three league games without a win for the first time this season.
  • A goal in this match will see Liverpool score in all of their away matches in an top-flight season for the first time.
  • Liverpool have lost two of their last three Premier League away fixtures, as many as they had in their previous 30 (W17, D11).
  • The Reds haven't lost their final away league game in any of the past six campaigns (W4, D2).
  • Their previous two final away matches in the league have seen 14 goals scored in total – a 4-4 draw with Southampton in 2022-23 and a 3-3 draw with Aston Villa last season.

I am THRILLED that this game actually has something potentially riding on it! Before I saw all the various unlikely computations that could still make 8th a Conference qualifying position I thought Palace winning the FA Cup made our last two games meaningless dead rubbers. Brentford losing was a nice bonus too.

Can we do this? Probably not but let’s give it a go and get at least one point, just in case Palace manage to really rub our noses in it by winning their last two.

Hope Alexander-Arnold does play. I’ve quite enjoyed the angst and crisis of conscience that’s come with their fans’ treatment of him.

A win would obviously be massive - means Fulham, Bournemouth and Palace of course couldn’t catch us. Would be confident of getting something at Spurs.
My biggest worry outside our games is Forest not beating Chelsea on Sunday.

At the end of my tether
At their best Liverpool could beat us , but they have not shown their best lately. Since being declared champions they have stuttered. So we might do this . 3 points tonight would help no end , and it is well possible. So let’s be positive!
Fair does to those turning out to be there at this awful hour on a Monday night … :albion2:
