How can VAR check whether the keeper picked up the ball outside the area? That wouldn't have been a penalty - so what's VAR doing getting involved? Potential red card for deliberate handball??

The bold I think. I believe a keeper becomes an outfield player when they leave their area.

Well you have to say that is very very nice to allow the boys to have 11 players on the pitch because that certainly looks like a dead on red card

It's not complacency though
not yet and they need to avoid it by keeping up the pre-goal momentum- mistake from Sanchez and a bad miss from Mitoma.

Grimsby are also defending very well - not parking the bus because they are 0:1 down ( you only park the bus to play for a draw)
