These corners are actually an embarrassment. The second player is usually walking away when the ball is kicked. What exactly are we trying to achieve?

Exactly - at least they should try and mislead the opposition. Kicking player carefully places the ball, paces back and raises his arm, and the other one stands around like a lemon. Plainly obvious who is going to kick it. I guess it is a bit like free kicks where two players look to be taking the shot and those are normally more difficult to read - and the non shooting player normally runs too.
