if every albion fan at the palace game who threw a punch or threw something in the direction of palace fans after the game were sentanced as these lads have been there would be about 800 years of prison being handed out to albion fans.

some people on this board are so small minded, you see worse trouble on west street at closing time on a friday night than you would have in the leeds incident, these lads have been made an example of and im sure our football liasons officer is rubbing his hands with glee after the sentancing.

Year year, so basically you don't want an end to footie related violence then?

There is a big difference between people fighting at closing time after going to the pub and organised violence.

The chances are people fighting after coming out of the pub is down to having a few to many beers of some pointless arguement.

But a pre arrange fight with a set of fans who support a different team to you just for a buzz is pathetic. No only did they trash a pub this time but they force normall football fans hassle as mentioned above where we are marched around and treated like shit as game where there is a threat of trouble.

Anybody know what prison they have been sent to and if they are all at the same one?

Perhaps because they weren't stupid enough to take pictures of it then send it to the local boots to get developed or what ever the Brighton fans did.

If you believe that then you'll believe anything!!

How many professional photographers you know take their photos to boots to get developed??

I cant believe people are saying that the sentences are too long, when they wont serve all of them anyway!

If anything the sentences will act as a deterrent and hopefully, these things will not be repeated. Therer may be harsher consequences next time and someone "who should not have got involved" will serve a long sentence for manslaughter

The reality is the sentances are not in line with what they would have got if it was not football related. This happened in the mid 1980's with some of the Chelsea fans, where a couple of them got longer sentances for alledged organising of violence etc, than you would get for murder. In the end these convictions are quashed, but it seems unfair that the minute the wood football is added to the case they chuck an extra year or so on to the sentance.

I'm sure it was in the Argus the other week that one of them took some photos of the incident into a shop to get developed.

The Argus also printed that Maradonna was going to buy the club!

See where I'm going with this?

The footage was on the local news last night. They showed loads of it as well.
It didn't look to bad really. One bloke was almost just prodding the Leeds fans with a chair rather than really laying into him.
There is absolutely no way they'd have served any time at all if it wasn't football related.

Yeah. And I liked the way the twat with the chair leg was only trying to comb the hair of the guy who was cowering behind the pile of chairs. The bloke who threw the chair through the window thought he heard someone asking for a seat, so he was really only doing them a favour.

The Argus reported from the actually court case so I presume it was fact!

"A photographer with the Brighton supporters took "trophy" pictures of the violence, Hove Crown Court heard yesterday.

They were later used with the CCTV footage to help identify some of those involved in the clashes. "

I think the point with the sentences is that it was pre-organised, it was a group of people who went out with a specific intent to cause trouble, start a fight and do some damage. The idea is to deter people from organised violence.

Yes, you see fights on West Street each weekend, but they're almost without exception spontaneous outbreaks caused by drunken chavs spilling each other's pints, and are broken up in seconds.

The Pumphouse was an organised job, where people went to that location with an intention of causing mayhem.

Fine, if the planks want a ruck, let them.

But I don't see why the normal, civilised population of Brighton (or anywhere else) should have to put up with a bunch of pathetic, largely middle aged men acting out their childhood fantasies, not if it involves other people's property and lives.

The Pumphouse is someone's livelihood, as are all the other businesses in Brighton Square. People were out for the evening trying to enjoy themselves, including families with kids.

That evening was ruined because a bunch of single cell amoebas like these guys were intent on violence, I'm sorry but I have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever for the thugs that caused it.

The purpose of sentences like they got is to deter the pond life from future incidents like this.

(The sentences handed out to child molesters are neither here nor there, we all know they should be much harsher. But that's irrelevant to this case. )
