Brighton/Chesterfield rivalry
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's all very bizarre this banter with the Brighton fans. Yes we had a dodgy chairman but that has got nothing to do with the everyday fan. What seemed to upset the Chesterfield fans was the way we were treated by everyone at Brighton. It seems that in the absence of any genuine tradition (remember there is no history of working class, heavy industry in this relatively new south coast tourist town)BHAFC fans, and Brightonians themselves, have got a large chip on their shoulder. The bile thrown at CFC fans was just the latest attempt to create some kind of soul at a club that essentially doesn't have one. Their athletics stadium epitomises this perfectly. Having lived in both towns I know where I would rather live, Chesterfield may have it's problems but at least it's got soul.
Relatively new tourist town? We have a large chip on our shoulder? We have no soul? So what there's no heavy industry here.
This person actually prefers living in Chesterfield than Brighton because it's got soul. Mmmm-okay mate.
