RPI's are able to issue you penalty fares, the running of the train is nothing to do with them.
What a crock.

Uncle Buck said:That was the problem.
The queue at Preston Park the other day was bad and the machine was not working, so he fined me.
Was also doing the rounds on my train back from Gatwick on Friday. Had a ticket that time.
Beach Hut said:Trouble is no matter what queue if the ticket office is open you should buy a ticket.
Uncle Buck said:However I had give myself nearly 10 minutes at Preston Park to get a ticket, but still that was not enough time.
Although the guy was doing his job I felt his attitude stunk and then had a row with him when he started lecturing me about buying a ticket, after fining me and calling me by my first name.
Jobsworth.
Beach Hut said:Not good enough - you have to have a ticket or suffer the consequences if an RPI is on a train
Uncle Buck said:Ultimately missing my flight was going to cost more than not having a train ticket.
However still going to complain to First Capital about his attitude etc. Not that it will do much good.

enigma said:That is piss poor to be honest. The amount of times I turn up well in advance of my train, only to find there's a cretin at the desk or various machines aren't working.....
Beach Hut said:Yep it is always someone elses fault isn't it - never me
enigma said:Plum.
If I turn up 5 minutes before my train at a busy station, then I take my chances and I accept it could well be my fault if I miss my train/get fined.
If I turn up in plenty of time, staff are incompetent/slow and machines aren't working, then I dont see it as my fault.
Beach Hut said:Then buy it in advance then
