Why do all games kick off late these days?

because of pre match guff that has grown from "captains photo on centre spot" to walk out with mascots, shake hands with every member of the opposite team and refs, etc.

The simple answer would be to come out sooner, but perhaps there is a tradition to the time teams come out.
