How was the weather? Photos?

Perfect weather! Which for me means anything below 16 to 18 degrees max
Dry and mostly cloudy with some sunshine and just a bit of rain on last evening in Edale and first morning near Leek. Not much wind either, except once up on top of Win Hill !
I certainly wouldn't want to go there in the heat of the Summer. Walking all day and that amount of climbing in heat wouldn't be my thing. Nor the likely crowds of people.

Took most of the photos on my 'proper' camera, but I
have a few on my phone which i'll try to pop up in a bit if I can.

One from the side of the road just before arriving at Edale campsite. Taken from between Mam Tor and Rushup Edge.

One from the second part of the trip (White Peaks). Taken from Roach End looking towards Dane Valley. The sunset coming through the dry stone wall was what I was aiming for.

Last one. Crap photo as it was too far away for my phone, but I liked the vibe.

Again from Roach End. Must be the best kids football training session in the country! This was the evening of the Bank Holiday. Whilst the whole country seemed to be in enforced mourning, these kids sounded like they were having a great time just being kids. I could hear the voices ringing right up into the hills. This is Gradbach school. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Perfect!

Thanks to everyone who suggested The Peak District. But thanks to pb21 in particular for this suggestion.

I used this as my starting point for what was a late spur of the moment decision. Having a starting point recommended helped as the area is so large I could have spent ages deciding.

Just returned from 6 nights solo camping and all day walking. 3 nights in Edale and 3 nights just up from Leek in sight of The Roaches, Ranshaw Rocks and Hen's Cloud.

Stunning doesn't even cover it!
The whole experience blew my mind and was just the tonic I needed in these shit times.

In true NSC style.... Absolutely Marvellous Scenes!

Thanks all.

Glad you enjoyed it!

A bit nervous about recommending somewhere, in case they don't like it, but it is pretty amazing around there, so thought I couldn't be that wrong! I get the train from Sheffield to Manchester a couple of days a week through the valley and that stretch is always the highlight of my day.

Thanks for the recommendation, it was perfect
As for you getting that train a couple of days a week, only one thing to say... You lucky git!
I jumped on it at Edale for just one stop to Hope and that short journey alone was amazing!

Can't resist one final pic, then I promise to stop.

Who knew Abraham Lincoln had connections to Staffordshire
I took this one up on The Roaches.

Did you stay at The Mermaid?

Nope. Cheap, very basic but perfect farmer's fields campsites. Both in brilliant locations to just go walking from up into the hills everyday.
