Hundreds of seagulls above Nevill Avenue again right now so the ants must be kicking all of their menfolk out en masse here.

It seems a story in Devon may be true. Apparently the gulls get 'drunk' on the formic acid contained in ants and then stagger about on the ground as though pixxed and then get run over by passing traffic, well there is one flat one along the road from me.

Flying Ants and Stag Beetles. Not seen either for several years. When I was a kid there were plagues of them.

I was in Sardinia recently and it was swarming with Ants. Ants making nests in the ground- beavering away. Carrying little bits of twig here and there. Quite a distraction.
