Hundreds of seagulls above Nevill Avenue again right now so the ants must be kicking all of their menfolk out en masse here.

It seems a story in Devon may be true. Apparently the gulls get 'drunk' on the formic acid contained in ants and then stagger about on the ground as though pixxed and then get run over by passing traffic, well there is one flat one along the road from me.

Can't remember another year with two Flying Ant Days.

The air in Burgess Hill is once again thick with them.

They are pouring out of the ground at the moment in Seaford. Seagulls are going mad for them. Very late in the year for this event.

I was in Sardinia recently and it was swarming with Ants. Ants making nests in the ground- beavering away. Carrying little bits of twig here and there. Quite a distraction.
