The aussies have more than impressed me so far, and were v.unlucky against that well up for it team from Brazil.

Could produce a few shocks if they do make it past the group stages

i don't think croatia or australia are particularly bad teams?

they've looked fairly OK in their games

They aren't. I agree with you.

But nor are they particularly good.

Anyway, this is all a bit beside the point I was making that Brazil don't always start slowly.

For all I know (or indeed care), Cambodia might be a fantastically organised side. They're still shit, though.

True. They don't even appear to have qualified for the first round stage of the Asian World Cup qualifying. A stage that saw the might of Laos, Chinese Taipei, Yemen, The Maldives and all sorts of 'stans'...

Apparently they didn't even bother to enter. Hardly surprising when you consider that they lost 6-0 to The Maldives in qualifying for the 2002 tournament.

Well, to be fair, I've heard The Maldives are very well organised...

Can someone tell me what Robbie Carlos brings to the party apart wasting most of the freekicks he takes?

Having been lucky enough to see Carlos play for Real Madrid (Beckham's first season there) I don't think I've ever seen someone run as much as he did. It was literally non stop, as you know is sometimes difficult to gauge on tele how much ground someone covers, as all you see is a maximum of a third of the pitch at a time. His link up play is exceptional, and the rest of his team mates know there is always an outlet on the left for them. That said yes he does waste all the free kicks he takes, and is living off the one he scored at Le Tournoir sp. Flip side of the coin is Ronaldo is probably the laziest player I've ever seen, very little running and seemed his job was to win free kicks on the edge of the box for (then) Beckham to take. The really annoying thing about him is that he does have so much talent, and used to have the pace to go with it, although not sure about that now.

Sad times for the international games true super power. A World Cup without the dizzying skills and Samba beat of Brazil is quite simply unthinkable. Like most on NSC I have grown up to adore the Brazilian football side, lets hope they can turn it around in the next 15 months.

Realistically, they're qualifying for the World Cup - have you seen the table?

Six points clear, they should be fine but the World Cup needs a strong Brazil. It's not just about getting there, it's entertaining and winning when they get there.

You would think the chance is there for Pedro to establish himself in the side but it doesn't sound as though he impressed against Colombia

Far be it from me to say this as a Brighton fan but when you have a Brighton player as your number 9 it suggests you are not a world dominant power. But then a Brighton player turned the World Cup campaign for Argentina so maybe I need to accept we are decent now.

Just like how there should be a Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday in the premier league?

They need a proper coach IMO, not a journeyman one who has won a couple of cups with Sao Paulo and Flamengo.
I watched it last night, and they were Miles away from Argentina's standards, but I'm not sure the quality of player is the problem.
Saying that the defence was awful and there must be a better GK for them than one from the Saudi league, Weverton at Palmeiras for example.
