I thought they'd stopped making the finest crisps in the country butn I found some Brannigans Beef and Mustard crisps in Horsham the other day. Does anywhere in Brighton/Hove still sell them?

Good question. Those crisps were legendary

On a side note , I had a packet of monster munch at the weekend for the first time in years and there were about 9 crisps in there. When the hell did they get so meesly

They are indeed a crisp for the connoisseur. Roast Beef and Mustard or Ham & Pickle, both fabulous. There's a couple of newsagents in HH that do them, in fact now you've sown the seed I think I may have to go and buy a bag RIGHT NOW.

They've just started making them BIG again, as they used to be. Great stuff IMHO.

And coming from a veggie, that is high praise indeed.

I slightly prefer the smoked ham & pickle, but if I had to eat my way out of a prison made of crisps, the B&M would be well up there as well.

If you walk from County Hall and the Royal Sun Alliance buildings, Waitrose is on your left and it's a cornershop on your right as you go into the pedestrianised area. I think it was called the Candy Shop

Absolutely. I've never tried beef with mustard other than in a Brannigan crisp, and if I ever did, I actually think I'd send it back for not being, well, crispy enough.

We had roast beef yesterday. I don't have it with mustard though, I smudge it with horseradish. I don't think I'd like the real thing with mustard.

and there was me looking on-line and would you believe they're 5 minutes from my front door

edit - Have to admit I initially thought only a house fire would have got me out of the house, but an ancient taste for these crisps got me out - marvelous!

Smearing a beef joint with mustard (my personal preference is Dijon with a splodge of English added) before sealing & roasting is DELICIOUS.

Horseradish to accompany once it's cooked every time though.
