Brake check

I need to get my brakes checked cos the rear wheel on my Golf is squeaking like a pig on a spike....

Any recommendations for good places to go in Brighton or Hove? Don't really want to use the main dealer as they're invariably a rip-off (and, sadly, pretty useless too on past experience).

has it drum brakes or disc brakes, if drum, may be a bid up of dirt and needs cleaning, if disc brakes, could be a brake pad worn out and metal to metal on the disc

I like the one I use now, Cole's in Edburton.
It's a garage in the unlikely setting surrounded by farms, between Small Dole and Poynings, but take the car there one morning with a friend and then pop over to Golding's Barn for breakfast while it's getting done - you won't feel any pain whatsoever

It might have been a stone, that's now either fallen out, or been ground into insignificance (sp?).

Most cars these days just need a bit of heavy use to clear little niggles. We spend so much time at low temperatures and short slow journeys that engines clog up and brakes clog up with dust.
