If anyone doubts why Wiggo was the appropriate winner of SPOTY take a look at this on Sky at present. What a fantastic bloke, and he is presenting a music special with Paul Weller on 6 Music too soon to add to his cool credentials. :clap2:

ANYONE who thinks CYCLING is a SPORT is DELUDED. More DRUGS than Boots the Chemists
Much the same as tennis, boxing, athletics, weight lifting, horse racing and...

...football.
To name but a few.

When you have to wipe the record book in those sports as cycling has then they can be mentioned in the same context
When you test those sports as rigorously as cycling, then they'll be no record books left to wipe.

Watched it last night and felt really sorry for Froome who decided to have a go and get away from the pack only for the team to rip the shit out of him and tell him to go back for friggins so he could catch up. Very similar to the shambles they call F1 to be honest, all this lets let so and so win gets on my tits. Thats my rant over and it only leaves me to say SSSEEEEAAAGGGGUUUULLLLLLSSSSSSSSSS:banana::O:clap::clap2::albion2::wave:

Wiggins summed up bike riders by his treatment of The Duchess of Cambridge! Snatched the award out of her hands without a perfuntuary glance! Just like those that ride pavements and red lights! No respect for tradition or history. He may have excelled in the TDF but, he has no manners.

Agreed, Wiggo has stuck the outrageously arrogant GREAT back in front of Britain in more ways than just his cycling and shown the world that Britishness is and always was cool.

I watched that the other night, very individual sport and tough mentally.

Wiggins in my view is amazing and a to win the ultimate cycling endurance test deserves huge credit.

One of the sporting highlights of the year is there's very little:-

'plucky Brit giving it their all as they trot in 7th in the semi final'.

(Excluding English/Team GB football)

The complexities of Pro cycling is tough to explain, to those with little interest.

It's an individual sport that is impossible to compete in individually.
But the team aspect is so underplayed by the UCI, it's little wonder the 'other' riders aren't recognised for the work they do.

I can fully understand that, you cannot win a 21 day race just on your own and need support from other cyclists to keep you in the mix.

I suppose it comes down to team orders and tactics, maybe it will be Froome next year or perhaps Wiggins ultimately the Team Manager decision.
