Word aversion describes a visceral, irrational disgust – not anger or offense – that is felt upon hearing or seeing a particular word. People report that hearing the offending word is reminiscent of nails on a chalkboard, or that the mere thought of it makes them shudder.

I’d rather plough through a confusing thread tbh than a confusing board with 3 different Solly March threads on the front page - it gets really confusing which thread you are replying to.

Also the ignore button means it’s impossible to stop old threads being bounced because posters have other posters on ignore and can‘t even see the new thread!

FWIW - I like players and the manager having an official long running thread, it somehow legitimises a respect for them as members of the Club and makes them a more ‘permanent’ fixture on NSC. It’s also easier to trace back along the path of their development by reading back on the longstanding thread. ...

There is some truth in that, and it often is a value judgement. However I do think bouncing a fifteen year old thread from a long-gone Palace fan celebrating making his 2000th post on NSC is beyond the pale.

I think that was HWT for a joke

EDIT - apologies to HWT - it wasn’t a Harry joke - I also have the twit on ignore so didn’t see his bounce 😂 - so yes, do f*** off. FFS

Still think people who do it should be insta-banned.

I briefly considered writing "should be shot" but decided that's probably more admin than Bozza has time or energy to deal with.
Why? Who cares and what difference does it REALLY make?

Posters are FAR too precious about what fellow posters do or say on here.

Obviously there are some threads which can go on for a long time, which is fair enough. It is the reviving of old threads which have been lying dormant for yonks which is annoying. Perhaps a mechanism to close down threads that haven't been added to for, maybe a month (?) would be a good amendment to this board?

Sometimes I bounce old threads if there is something I want to say/news about an old topic. The benefit is that you can see people’s thoughts from a point in time, how they might’ve changed, plus learn things about the subject you didn’t otherwise know.

Seems pretty straightforward to me. Like if a show had a new series but the last episodes were some years ago, it makes sense to continue that thread.

Or if a player is post worthy, you’d find that player’s old thread
But this just gives the trolls on here to go back ages to find ammunition to fire at people , looking to make them feel bad for changing their views. You said this and you said that ……
I’d favour a two year rule.

6 months or a year and autolock the thread would be great.

If someone did that to me for the purpose of trolling I’d just block them and move on with my day. If they wanted to discuss or ask why my views had changed I’d happily have a conversation about that

Crodo.

He can be quite amusing at times, hence not on ignore.

But I'm likely to review my options at some point, given some of the recent soppy-bollocks thread bouncing.

Edit: after now seeing a Mrs Brown's boys thread bounced by.....yes, him, I have now put Crodo on ignore.
Crodo is the only NSC poster I have on ignore. He was trolling cricket threads. That's my only capital offence.

That's on a par with trolling the Antiques Road Show.
Why mess with the harmless pleasure of genteel pursuits?
I am genuinely sickened.

Best wishes, as always

I found myself getting annoyed with Crodo to the point of being very rude to him. I decided it was best just to let it go. I never see his posts any more. I get a little precious about cricket and a lot of traditionalists are upset about the direction of a sport that means a lot to them. Crodo wasn't offering a different view, which I respect people having, he was trying to wind folk up. Nothing wrong with a bit of benign trolling, not good to deliberately annoy people.
