Borough run in permutations

Three more days to run the 'just turn up to win' scenario through their heads and mess with their preparation.

From browsing various forums of our rivals Boro seem to be showing more signs of panic. They've had an upturn in mood & are buoyed on hearing that Birmingham are likely to be without Kuszczak, Eardley, Maghoma and Torel through injury whilst Caddis is a doubt. Kieftenbeld could return but that's still a lot of regular & influential players out
Not to worry though as Gary Rowett assures us "We’ll have fewer players to choose from and perhaps fewer options but we’ll put out as strong a team as we’re capable of doing and we’ll still feel that that team is good enough to get a result."
I'm not sure I take a lot of comfort from a manager of a team facing rivals of ours in such a big game saying they'll put out as strong a team as they can & will give it their best shot. It's ok saying they'll field a team that should be capable of a result but a defeat is a result. We'd like at least a draw if possible Gaz.
It'll still go to the last game in my view & an away win. We don't need favours

Actually, it could make a huge difference to how we approach the game, particularly in the second half. If Boro draw, then there is no difference to us between a loss or a draw, so you could well see us throwing caution to the wind to try and get a winner in injury time. Alternatively, if Boro lose 1-0 and we find ourselves 2-0 up in the dying minutes, you'd probably have the odd situation of Stockdale going up to attack corners or free-kicks despite having the gam more or less won. If Boro win by a couple, then we'd be as happy with a 0-0 draw as a 3-0 win, so would probably be winding the clock down and making defensive subs etc. to settle for the point if it was all square.

No, we need to win against Derby, and win big. It could come down to Burnleys results and GD
Assume you're talking about prospects for winning the title with that?
Given that in terms of gaining an auto promotion, there aren't many permutations where Burnley finish 3rd and both us and Boro get autos. Burnley are in the box seat to claim one of the autos, the other is between us and Boro and the maths say we can lose against Derby and still go up by giving Boro a spanking. Burnley would be choking big time if they fail to secure an auto from here.

No I am not talking just about top spot. We can all win one and draw one, or win one and lose one. In either case, goal difference will decide it, and Boro may well have got one up in front of Burnley.

I'm sure CH will purely be focusing on a win on Monday irrespective of the Brum/Boro score. Not to do so would hand the advantage to Burnley.

Why are they called Boro? It's Middlesbrough is t it? as in 'Brah' not 'Boro' Shirley?
Well, it's all changed now anyway. Simple equation: we win vs Boro and we're up. We don't win and we go into the play offs lottery.
As it was back when we made the earlier posts, though, of all the permutations the ones that would have had us needing to have a better GD than Burnley were the least likely - would have required Boro to beat Birmingham by more than 1, the Burnley win to be by only 1 (as it was in the end), and us to absolutely smash Derby. It was so unlikely to eventuate that I very much doubt it ever crossed Hughton's mind.
