Really? I'm only vaguely familiar with the location, but I'll admit I've never heard anybody extolling the virtues of Washington (the UK version) before.

Durham, York, Newcastle, Scarborough, Whitby: all of these are places I know Albion fans are utilising for this trip. I imagine you'll be the only one in Washington, surely? :)

Yeah, reading that back I haven't really explained myself! I meant I'll be staying in Washington and going out in Newcastle and that there's loads of thing to do in the NE rather than coming up and going home on the Saturday!!

Trainfare experts ......hows the best way to search fares? I put in Swindon to Middlesborough and the price was £145 return Fri PM depart and return Saturday Post match.

Any search secrets? if not its the long car drive

Try splitting your tickets for a better fare. You'll have to pay a fee if you make a saving on a regular ticket, but often the savings are worth going for, at least when I want to travel long distances.

Don't bother with third-party websites like National Rail, Red Spotted Hanky and others. It's cheaper and easier doing it direct on the rail carriers' website. That's if splitting your ticket as above, does not work out.

If anyone wants to walk there it'll take 4 days 1 hour (if you take the fast route )

Presume that's non-stop though? I'd have thought you'd want to chuck in an hour or so's break in every twenty four hour period for a quick toilet stop, cup of tea & checking for blisters.
