I work in Croydon (lucky me) and have an annual ticket from Brighton to east croydon. tonight I need to get off in Hove, will my ticket go through the barriers at Hove or do I have to be milked for more cash and buy a single from Brighton - Hove for example?

Thank you and apologies if this is the poorest commuter question ever posed!

I do remember a discussion about this very subject before.

- some Brighton tickets work in the barriers at Hove, some don't - don't ask me why;
- the barrier at Hove is often open anyway in the evening;
- if all this fails the nice barrier person will let you through because the fare to Croydon / London etc is the same from Brighton / Hove and Preston Park.

the barriers are very often open at Hove and tickets rarely checked.

How I love it when a thread takes an abstract or bizarre twist. Delighted to say the quality of the humour on here is well up to standard lately:D

You'll have to ask HB&B, he's the only boring and daft commuter i know
I certainly am and I used my Brighton to London Terminals ticket to go through the barriers at Hove only the other day no problem.
