Booker to take over?

If SC does go, and I´m not convinced yet (there´s the kiss of death for you!) then it´s going to be difficult for DK not to give Bob Booker the chance to take over - assuming he´s interested that is. You can argue that BB is doing a great job as number 2, but assuming that he´s ambitious one day he´s going to be number 1, and it could be this time round. If DK doesn´t give him the chance he could get pissed off and look for his chance elsewhere, but if DK does appoint him, he could turn out to have been one of those guys who was an excellent no 2 but no good as a no 1, and we could be going through all this again in 6 or 9 months time! Talk about a rock and a hard place!
If I were DK I think I would give him the chance, but find a way of bringing someone else in to help without BB losing face - a director of football maybe?

Isnt M.Hinshelwood Director of Football. I can see the fans loving that. Hinsh and Booker double act. No, let Booker take the job on merit and sink or swim by his own results. Remember, there is no guarantee that anybody else coming in will do a good job.

Hinshelwood took over an understrength div 1 team, and Wood took over a team weak on self belief after years of relegations etc. Booker would be taking over a team going well. Don't under sell BB, I am sure he is his own man and knows what football clubs and management is about. A damn sight more than I know.

And a damn sight more than any of us on here know too.

You speak sense SS.

Let's remember that we are currently 15 points clear of the fourth relegation spot in our division and only 26 points away from the 50 points target usually set to avoid the drop. That gives us the luxury of losing at least 5 games in a row Assuming the bootom clubs manage to win their five games) before we need to look over our shoulders and with the current squad/team spirit/ etc that would need Jeff Wood or Tinslehead back in charge.

No I didn´t mean a double act. Ideally I would appoint an experienced boss and hope that he and BB would work together - it´s worked well before.
But my main point is that maybe it´s time to give Bob Booker his opportunity - it will be cheaper than buying experience! And it could well prove to be an excellent choice. We can´t keep on bringing someone else in over his head. But if we do give it to Bob, there needs to be a back up plan in place just in case it starts to go the shape of a pear. Now may well be the time, we are top of the league, a reasonably settled squad, we just need to keep doing what we are doing now rather than a drastic overhaul.
I´m coming to the conclusion that I would give it to BB (but thank God it's not my decision!)
