Booker: It's been a difficult time

Brighton caretaker boss Bob Booker has admitted that uncertainty over the managerial position has affected the players.
Albion went down 1-0 at home to Stockport on Saturday, their third successive defeat.

A late goal from Aaron Wilbraham brought Booker's caretaker spell to a dismal end and he agreed Steve Coppell's departure to Reading had created a difficult situation at The Withdean Stadium.

Booker said: "Possibly the uncertainty has played on the players' minds. They've played under a lot of managers and it's been a difficult time for everyone at the club."

Booker had decided before the match to withdraw as a candidate for the job and chairman Dick Knight will select his eighth manager in six years from a short-list believed to include Leroy Rosenior, Mark McGhee and Stuart Gray.

Booker, who won his first two games in charge, added: "I'd like to think I've cleared the path by making my decision. I didn't want it to drag on and I'm glad I made the decision for the chairman.

"Now it's a fresh start for someone. I've told the players they must do their best for the new manager, whoever it turns out to be. It's a new chapter."

He is basically admitting he is not good enough to be the manager using the players as an excuse. Lets face it, his relationship with the players has stopped him from motivating them.
I hope he doesnt go completely, but think he will.
Maybe it is time for a change.

Yeah, all those of us with any knowledge of football and the internal dynamics of any hierarchical organisation knew that Booker would be a disaster as manager. I did hope he'd stay as #2 but if he doesn't he doesn't.

Despite the wording of the 1st sentence that wasn't meant as too much of an insult of those who thought Booker could do the job. Despite Booker's own withdrawl does anybody still think that BTW? Fair play if you do - I've got more respect for you than for those who've changed their minds after three (or maybe even two) defeats.
