Hence my question 'why do you believe etc...' That is asking your opinion is it not?

I'm NOT saying they are behind it, my point is, they have just as much reason to be involved as Al Qaeda, and we shouldn't allow ourselves to be dragged into islamaphobia. Incidently, Al Qaeda was a term coined by western intelligence agencies which loosely translates to 'the base' or 'data base' this was to identify their OWN assets in the mid east, including former ally (patsy) Osama Bin Laden, when fighting their proxy war against the Soviet Union. There is always a lot more than the movie played out in the media!

I truly believe that on this forum it has only been you who has mentioned Islamaphobia? Most people here are reasonable and informed. Who do you believe you are enlightening? Take a trip to Croydon and you'll find some far more needy bigots.

Go spread the word.

Hmmm...did i accuse anyone on here of it?? NO... i accused the BBC for, in my opinion jumping the gun and blaming Islam, that is all. You know as well as i do, that NOT all people are well informed and will be accusing islam of this as i type, so don't jump down my throat please. And why bring Croydon into it? Are you saying everyone there is a bigot? Thats a bit of a generalisation isn't it? Sounds like your the only one being a bigot here with that comment. Peace.

I've come back home.

There is a fundermental differance between Islamaphobia and making an intelligent assessment on those that have both the Intent and Capabilitiy to conduct an attack on this scale. Islamic Extremists have both, Mossad do not have the intent.

Your point on the origins of the word AQ is incorrect. In Oct 2001 Tayseer Alouni interviews Bin Laden. In this interview Bin Laden stated the following:

"The name "al Qaeda" was established a long time ago by mere chance. The late Abu Ebeida El-Banashiri established the training camps for our mujahedeen against Russia's terrorism. We used to call the training camp al Qaeda [meaning "the base" in English]. And the name stayed."

Lastly please do not patronise me by saying "There is always a lot more than the movie played out in the media!". I am fully aware of this and have been around long enough to make my own mind up.

Hmm..that depends where you get you information sir, i'm not going to waste my time arguing a toss with you. You have your opinions, i have mine. I suggest we agree to disagree. As for being patronising? Well, the words pot, kettle and black come to mind.

I bid you good day sir.

why do these threads always turn into 'my conspiracy is better than your conspiracy' instead of showing any compassion for those who have died?

I don't think anyone is forgetting the poor people caught up in this mate, it's just events like this this cause peoples emotions to run high, which inevitably leads to differences of opinion, which after all is a healthy thing, in my opinion. Imagine the world if everybody towed the same line, right or wrong?

My thoughts are with the Norwegian people, no matter who is responsible.

NY Times now reporting some well known head honcho within Al Qaeda (they did name him but I missed it) is claiming responsibility. Supposedly a credible source, and blaming Norwegian involvement in Afghanistan/ alleged insults to the Prophet.

Norwegian police have identified the gunman, apparently previolusly "known".

Eyewitness reports caliming that he is blond.

Swedish terrorist expert, with knowledge of the Scandinavian situation has stated that this is the work of Al Quaida.

25-30 bodies on beach

Radical groups have been trying for a long time to recruit people who don't fit the traditional profile for their cause. Makes it a lot easier to get avoid suspicion.

What radical groups are these then? As the targets appear to be labour party members is this a right wing jobbie? I don't know much about politics in Norway...

Wouldn't need to be a right wing thing would it? If it's enough to strike fear into the public then it's job done, no matter how many or few people are involved

I was thinking (not necessarily in terms of this incident, just generally) that it's known that AQ (for example) actively seek out recruits who have a different profile to their normal members. Richard Reid, for example.
