Highway 61 Revisited - to check out whether you get 'Desolation Row'. If you don't, you should maybe rethink.

Cheers - that actually made me laugh out loud. You're not serious are you?

Agree with Desolation row as a good test but for me, favourite album is Desire

It does Lord B, it does indeed.

I'm looking forward to all these. Funny how your music tastes broaden with age, 30 years ago I would have (and probably did) write Dylan off as a "whining hippy".

You must be one of the "super listeners" or whatever they're called as most people actually can't get into new music beyond the age of 30 apparently.

i only became interested in Dylan a few years ago. i have a friend who is a fanatic and he set me on my way with the following three classics
highway 61 revisited
blonde on blonde
blood on the tracks
these will give you a good start then go where the flow takes you

Happypig - Blood on the Tracks is a bit of a move away from the style of Highway 61 and Blonde etc, but has some gems on it - Lillly Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts is Dylan at his story telling best. He's evolved a lot over the years. My only advice would be take your time - some of his albums are immediate, some are growers. If you're getting a load at the same time, really do give them all a chance. The old goat has written 1000s of songs and the fairydust is sprinkled far and wide.

This is one of the best things I think he's ever written...
