So you're saying most BNP members are open about it, Coventrygull?!
Quite, I have a friend who joined (55 year old family man, own business, Public School Education), thought others would understand his desire to be a member of them, after all "hi is English you know, not some foreigner immigrant". He realised after a year that most of his friends had effectively ostracised him, he has now withdrawn his membership with his tail between his legs. He was basically a social outcast for the time he was a member, because, quite simply, the public perception of the BNP is so low. IMO rightly so.

your form has a number on it, the box you have ticked is recorded againgst that number. That number identifies your address and your name.

Thankyou for asking my question.

I think its ridiculous if this is the case that someone knows who you have voted for . I still cant work it out , oh well cheers:thumbsup:

Following on from last nights discussion about police and BNP membership, my first google on the subject came up with this :

Radio DJ Rod Lucas axed after appearing on BNP membership list - Times Online

Interested to learn that prison officers are banned from BNP membership too.

Can't help thinking that in some ways many in the BNP will actually be enjoying some of the ramifications of this leak. I personally think it's wrong when people have to fear for their jobs when their membership is discovered, although the irony is rather delicious :D

Also funny to see Nick Griffin floundering like a fish out of water in all this and it's odds on that he's going to be made to look like the idiot he is, instead of seizing the opportunity to do some real political points scoring.

Appears he joined them doing an investigation into them (as well as other political groups and parties)

The journalist from the Guardian who did an undercover investigation is on the list too apparently as reported in the Evening Standard tonight.

Following recent coverage of Rod in the newspapers, he is putting the record straight. Being a Radio Documentary & Talks Producer/Presenter - along with 3 other broadcast colleagues - he decided to make 3 1 hour specials on various pressure groups and political parties, one of which was the BNP. Others included The Communist Party, Animal Rights, and Fathers for Justice. Each member of the production team joined different parties and groups using their real names, to get inside the movements of each organisation. Rod says "I mentioned during my broadcasts at the time, my intentions of joining and charted the progress on air and dually signed to the BNP 2004/2005 for 1 year only. I used my real name and profession as a radio journalist/production. It was no secret to my listeners.

In making investigative programming sometimes programme makers have to probe a little deeper in order to get some real facts about operations. Via the membership newsletter I was given access to membership meetings and their private on-line forum - not for public consumption. A lot of what I saw and read was no worse than opinions expressed on freely available public forums. We wanted to make a fair and balanced programme on the inside & organisation of the BNP.

For the record I'm also a member of other political parties and pressure groups right across the spectrum in my capacity as a radio news & current affairs presenter/producer.

In my news profession one needs to dirty one's hands in order to get the story, it's the only way of getting fair and balanced programming. Some people in broadcasting might want to try it sometime. I told my audience at the time I was joining. My views on the BNP are well documented, but for the record - I find many of their policies most distasteful and NOT ones I'd vote for. However many of their members appear to be normal people where the race issue is not an overriding issue in their voting for the BNP.

I've been making popular passionate talk programming since 1975, I intend doing so in future. Thanks for reading my side of the story."

Relating this to schools.

If you conduct your self well, treat all pupils fairly and equally, develop the curricilum accordingly to the requirements of the Education Acts and the LocalEducation Authority then your political affliations shoudn't come into it.

I cannot see the gain of penalising BNP teachers, all that will happen, is that some people who work in local government will retain their political views but will not join the BNP. The "problem" will not have gone away just will remain hidden.

In Ireland, are Sinn Fein teachers banned fron holding posts?

The way its going you will find people will vote for anything other than the norm, the trust factor between joe public and the leading parties is zero so why shouldnt the nurse the postman ect ect say enough is enough ile vote for these guys without fully understanding why.

The free vote is the very fabric of our society,so why all the fuss when the bnp party start to gain a little momentem, makes me laugh when i hear other MPs slag them off for dishonesty and hiding thier true agenda, lol like thats what every MP has done since the day he was made a MP.

I dont think i am racist in any way shape or form but i do know im totaly pissed off with being lied too by a never ending line of smarmy twats forever telling me what they are going to do for the people of Britain and then do bugga all when i elect them.

Will i ever vote bnp /i seriously dont know and if i did i certainly wouldnt be ashamed to own up to it. But thats just me,its my vote i am allowed to do with it as i please am i not? ;)

You find that funny? Do you wonder why nothing ever changes in this country? The Establishment relies on ignorance and apathy to allow it to continue to mismanage the country. Have you not heard of the conspiracy of the two front benches? I didn't think so.

Well, at least I don’t patronise people, TLO. What I said was no rant. It was a coherent, grammatically-correct comment made by a highly-educated person with opinions that happen not to accord with your own.

Do you have a better phrase for the idiots who run this country than “week-kneed liberals”?

I notice that The Large One didn't answer my question.

:thud:

f***ing hell, I haven't been on this thread for a bit, and you're throwing your toys out of your pram, screaming for an answer. I didn't answer, because I didn't see the question. f***ing stroll on.

And if you're going to ask me a question, have the good grace to allow me to answer before you do it for me. And don't berate me just because I haven't. That's just puerile.

Anyhow, back to your rant.

Your original point about The Establishment and 'weak-kneed liberals' (a phrase for whose meaning you have yet to define) falls down straight away. Seeing as you haven't defined this over-used stock phrase, I'll attempt my own explanation at it...

'Weak-kneed' implies a LACK of political, moral, social (or possibly militaristic) strength and power in the face of hostility, crisis and emergency - irrespective of whether any decision taken is the right one. 'Liberal', in the political sense, is at the opposite end of the spectrum from 'authoritarian'.

The Establishment, as you put it, are neither of those. In the face of mounting social problems, we have draconian laws attempted to be put in place by arguably an authoritarian regime. Where is the liberalism in the millions of CCTV cameras, 42 days detention without charge, smoking bans, speed guns, ID cards, stop-and-search and so on? Unless you prefer a gun-laden police force to patrol the beat?

The Establishment willingly and deliberately (hardly 'weak-kneed') act out their own political agenda, and usually from an authoritarian standpoint - it strengthens their position.

Of course there is some connivance and conspiracy between the two main political parties - so don't think you can score a cheap point by telling me I haven't heard of it. The issue is, and this is where your original point falls down so quickly - this conspiracy not 'weak-kneed liberalism', that's power-mongering politics.

Unless, of course, your definition of 'weak-kneed liberal' is different from that.

Thats why people are looking at alternatives. It may be the Greens, BNP or The socialist party or any other. I think the Politicians of this country have become very remote from ordinary people.
