What remedies can be passed my way (bare in mind I am at work, so alcohol not an option)

That's what I'd use. Ignore the dosage on the bottle, just keep spraying until it's gone.

I've got a mate who swears that warm salty water works. Sounds pretty unpleasent so I wouldn't recommend it.
