The only motivation for this is a European League. Who wants that??

Blatter is desperate to decimate popular, high earning, competitive leagues that have existed for decades so he can bring you such footballing thrillers as:

Confederations Cup!

You love the World Cup but why wait every 4 years for it? We wanted to bring you the World Cup every 2 years but those bastards in South America and Europe didn't want to play ball. So instead we bring you the FIFA Confederations Cup. THRILL as Japan take on Morocco for a pointless group game in front of a few thousand dis-interested punters! GASP as France's B side thrash New Zealand in a crucial 3/4 play-off game. SHRUG YOUR SHOULDERS as a European or South American team reaches th final.

World Club Championship!

Back by no-ones demand! That tournament in Brazil that attracted a whopping 350 spectators for a group game between South Melbourne and Nexaca! We know you were so upset about not getting the chance to see Wollongong Wolves take on the LA Galaxy in 2001 so we're bringing the tournament nobody wants BACK! Leaner, meaner and even more pointless than before! In our new slimmed down competition the European and South American champions will have to play some stupidly easy games against the likes of Hearts of Oak and Pohang Steelers before they get the chance to play a one off decider. It's like the Toyota Cup but with an extra FREE one sided game! Tickets always available! (Apart from Final when the stadium will sell out with corporate freeloaders)

Anyone who subscribes to Sky Sports and watches Champions League football is helping it come about though .

Absolutely true Icy Gull. My principles tell me not to watch any champions league and I try not to. There's a bit of a conflict here though, I love watching football of that standard. Who wouldn't want to watch Zidane etc

The reason Blatter wants a smaller permiership is because he's under pressure from the games real powerbrokers, David Dein, Peter Kenyon and whoever the Man U exec is these days to cut out fixtures which don't make them as much money, ie v Leicester Wolves etc.

That is tough f***ing bollocks. Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea really piss me off. Just becuas they have dominated the prem they think they can rule it. They tried to get Rio off wrongly and now becasue Leicester, us, Wolves ect ain't bg enough thye dn't want to play us. WANKERS
I hope they fall out of champs league place in the lague, win f*** all and go bust. TOSSERS

Since when have Chelsea ever dominated the Premier League?

They may be on the verge of joining the club having luckily avoided their Leeds like position courtesy of Mr Abromovich, but whether his cash can push them that bit further is another thing.

The Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea moneymen do rule english football. As every season passes and they guarantee another champions league run, their grip tightens and the distance between the others will increase. A quick look at the current gap between 3rd and 4th is evidence for this.

The more money and power they get, the better position they get into, to put pressure on Blatter etc to manipulate the rules to make the playing field more and more uneven.

The current balance of power is the biggest threat to football everywhere.
