Bit of background to Slade's problems

I remember in my mid 20's having an interview for a promotion to team leader at L&G.

The gaffer, Dave Wingfield asked me " what is the most important thing to have from your team ? ".

I, in my niavety said

" to be liked ".

No he replied

" to be respected "

I lost the job there and then and DW taught me an important lesson.

Slade was liked but not respected and I think that was obvious.

See - when you try to be liked, people dislike you for it anyway. They take the piss, and will DISrespect you for trying to be Mr Nice Guy.

Has he got what it takes to kicks some arse? I don't like Wise either but if there is a problem with players taking the piss, then something needs to be done.

I remember him saying something like. "they'll never play for this football club again" about some players who took the sips in some way, it might have been some leeds players out on the town who disgraced themselves and the club. Any way the point is he'd soon sort out the discipline of over partying.

I think they fact they took the piss out of Slade tells you everything about the type of player we currently have at the club, no respect, no discipline = no results, they may be able to take the piss out of someone but they are f***ing as useless at the job they do as they think Slade was at his, so excuse us supporters if we take the piss out of them too.

This thread only serves to firm up what we already suspected - that Slade had lost the dressing room.

Tooting makes a good point about the dissenting players also dissing the fans. I think one of the backhanded compliments of NSC's presence and clout is that the Albion players relationship with the fans has worsened.

The rest of the boys were more than happy to carry on but it was Noddy's decision to quit that sealed their fate. Shame really.

Surely, if this is true, Forster needs to be one of the first out of the door. The manager needs his senior players to pull for him. If they're not, then the likes of Forster, Kuipers, Whing, Virgo and Hart have explaining to do.

if i was a senior player i would not pull off the manager
