Indeed, they could have just sat at a keyboard at home and donated and saved all the hassle.

Some of them spending money in the town, maybe staying overnight in hotels, eating in cafes and restaurants.

A terrible situation for a town with a tourist-based economy...

According to LB we have not been a a tourist-based economy since the 60's the tourist money is an insignificant amount compared with other revenue streams. .
