There was an interesting article on page 17 of the Bristol City game programme about negative comment on radio phone ins and those who fall silent when the team is doing badly. I can't help but feel this ties in with a similar article when Andy Naylor critisied the Board on the hollow retoric following our lastest failures on signings. It seems they think they are immune to ciriticism and that anyone who dares has lost their minds, arrogance in the extreme!
People ring in becuase they care and are worried, especially when inneptitude is apparent. The Board need to understand that they are just temporary custodians of the bastion of all our faith and they will come and go, as do all players, managers and staff, but the fans will live on. This current board nailed their flag to the mast early and got us on board with the promise of a return to Brighton and Falmer. They succeeded on the first count but have failed so far with the second and if they do not achieve this they have failed, regadless of the circumstances. It is important that anyone investing in a football club understands that it is a high risk venture and if they fail in their goal they must stand aside and let fresh investment take control, without getting their money back! If I won the Euro millions I would give them their £10m + back just to shut them up, as at times, they seem to bleat like the old board!. Mr. Knight please note, you are not immune to criticism, never rest on you laurels, you must achieve your stated goal, you must respect the fans (not just say you do but do nothing to show this!), admit it when you are wrong, perform better in transfer negociations, expect nothing in return and never, ever take the fans for granted or leave!

Irrespective of who was on the board, they would still have to deal with this country's arcane planning process. I think Messrs Knight and Perry have shown drive and determination beyond reproach in their efforts to get Falmer, when many lesser men would have just walked away and said bollocks to it by now.

By criticising Naylor's column, are they saying they should be exempt from criticism themselves? Should they have kept quiet or answered to Naylor?

People ring in becuase they care and are worried, especially when inneptitude is apparent. If we do not get Falmer, then that is a failure, but not for want of trying. I don't think anyone could forsee the planning application trundling along for 5 years +

It is important that anyone investing in a football club understands that it is a high risk venture and if they fail in their goal they must stand aside and let fresh investment take control, without getting their money back!
I am sure that the board were fully aware of the first point! They are entitled to get their loans back! The board do not seem to be in it for the money, but then I don't think any of them are rich enough to write off millions.

If I won the Euro millions I would give them their £10m + back just to shut them up, as at times, they seem to bleat like the old board!
Very good of you. To think that most people complain that they do not talk to us enough, now you want to pay them to shut up!?

Mr. Knight please note, you are not immune to criticism, never rest on you laurels, you must achieve your stated goal, you must respect the fans (not just say you do but do nothing to show this!)
How exactly has he disrespected the fans?

, admit it when you are wrong, perform better in transfer negociations, expect nothing in return and never, ever take the fans for granted or leave!
Perform better in the transfer negotiations!? Are you present during them? Funnily enough, signing players is slightly more difficult than signing them on Championship Manager.

1) Apparently Mr Knight was fuming, why if he is grown up enought to accept constructive criticism?

2) Yes it is failure, regardless of excuses, they should step aside and let new investment in to go to the next phase, this has been refused before, why, because they want their money back, which is the same tune as the old board, how niave are they to expect this back if Falmer fails, where will they get their money back from and they knew this when they got involved.

3) Yes, but only if they succeed and if you cant dont get involved.

4) Too numerous to mention, but to name but a few, the West Ham ticket fiasco and that was complete disrespect for season ticket holders who are the life blood of the club. The complete ignorance of the ticket office who believe we are lucky to even speak to them on the phone.

5) I dont need to be present to know that the last two seasons all we hear about are the players we didnt sign, other clubs with less resources than us get players we have been chasing for years, ie Brentford and Shipperly!

Maybe Naylor hadn't had the decency to check out his accusations, before passing them over to the public as fact, as opposed to opinion

I am struggling to believe that anyone would want to take us on, if the ONLY viable and suitable site for the stadium has been thrown out. Any other venture would cost a kings ransom (which historians worked out to be £665m

3) Yes, but only if they succeed and if you cant dont get involved.
Who else was queuing up to take on the haemorraging Albion? It is a bit late to say they shouldn't have got involved, isn't it?

4) Too numerous to mention, but to name but a few, the West Ham ticket fiasco and that was complete disrespect for season ticket holders who are the life blood of the club. The complete ignorance of the ticket office who believe we are lucky to even speak to them on the phone.
The West Ham tickets did cause a furore, but you have to take into account what the season ticket means. Did STHs buy them in knowledge that it would get them priority for an away cup tie? I am not saying what happened was necessarily best practice, but there are bound to be problems when demand outstrips supply so heavily, particularly if it is an away game. Out of interest, where were the 1,000s of STHs when we played Boston in the JPT & League Cup?

The ticket office is has two manning stations. They work their guts out for a limited wage, I am sure. The TO is suitable for a club like Torquay with gates rarely over 2,500. They do a thankless task and deserve some respect our respect.

5) I dont need to be present to know that the last two seasons all we hear about are the players we didnt sign, other clubs with less resources than us get players we have been chasing for years, ie Brentford and Shipperly!
Other clubs have assets to borrow against. Do we have £1,000s to spend on a player for just the rest of the season, when we have a limited budget to spend? I would rather we have a player on a longer deal, as an asset, rather than risking it on a older player for four months, when there is no gurantee he will be fit or make much of a difference. Of course he might, but is it vital to take that risk?

2) There have been several investors interested since this board took over but the current board will only talk in private, sounds familiar, thats because thats what Bill Archer said, roughly translated it means, give me £9m and we will go away but we will not sell you the club for its real value, ie nothing, instead of investing that money in the club.

3) Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah you sound like Dick Knight, fact the season ticket holders are the life blood of the club, and the 1000 were the same place as the other 4,000 people who went to West Ham were.

4) Again, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, just the tone of the ticket office answer phone message says it all. The fans deserve some respect and not to be treated like a nuisance, ticket sellers will come and go, fans are for life!

5) Apparently we have the money, Dick Knight says so, ah, but it is the stadium issue, of course, they would much prefer palaying in front of 6K at a run down hovel like Griffin park instead of 6k at Whitdean, big, big, big, big difference! Give me a break!

Maybe, but he obviously didn't question the board. I thought the idea of a journalist was to oust facts, rather than spout (potential) nonsense

2) There have been several investors interested since this board took over but the current board will only talk in private, sounds familiar, thats because thats what Bill Archer said, roughly translated it means, give me £9m and we will go away but we will not sell you the club for its real value, ie nothing, instead of investing that money in the club.
Who? News to me!

3) Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah you sound like Dick Knight, fact the season ticket holders are the life blood of the club, and the 1000 were the same place as the other 4,000 people who went to West Ham were.
Thank you. I am honoured. I didn't say that is was necessarily right, but it doesn't state that STHs would get priority for away cup matches.

4) Again, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, just the tone of the ticket office answer phone message says it all. The fans deserve some respect and not to be treated like a nuisance, ticket sellers will come and go, fans are for life!
Fine. If you don't like the way the ticket office speak to you, then perhaps you should complain. I have always found them to be very amiable and I should know. I buy a ticket for every home game as I was unsure as to whether I would be in Brighton at all this year. If you give someone respect then you tend to get some respect back.

5) Apparently we have the money, Dick Knight says so, ah, but it is the stadium issue, of course, they would much prefer palaying in front of 6K at a run down hovel like Griffin park instead of 6k at Whitdean, big, big, big, big difference! Give me a break! [/B]
Perhaps Deano didn't want Shipperley? He was McGhee's target after all. We went for other targets, but they didn't come off. What is the next plan? Kidnapping?

1) The facts were stated by the chairman, he was the one banging on about who we nearly signed, not something we hear alot from other chairmen

2) A consortium headed by the former Albion legend, Steve Foster.

3) So who does get priority, away fans who put nothing in to the club, good decision.

4) As I said, listen to the the queing message, it says it all.

5) Kidnapping it would appear would be far better than the current transfer policy.

He is open and honest about that. Why would he lie, if other chairman simply stay quiet?! We are drifting from the point. There were other issues written by Naylor, other than our transfer targets.

2) A consortium headed by the former Albion legend, Steve Foster.
Do we know the details of the consortium and their plans? Why would you demand a new board!? Stanley and Archer had great promise, as they had bags of money. Turned out well, didn't it!

3) So who does get priority, away fans who put nothing in to the club, good decision.
I am not going to get embroiled in a ticket row. The system was clearly not perfect. A point system would be good. There are always going to be people that miss out. What about those that attend most games at home, but do not have the means to spend £450 straight off? They potentially miss out as well.

4) As I said, listen to the the queing message, it says it all.
Why don't you raise this with the club, rather than backbiting on NSC. If you honestly feel that people will be put off buying tickets, due to the 'attitude' of the shop staff.

5) Kidnapping it would appear would be far better than the current transfer policy.
An upturn in fortunes now that the new signings are settling in, doesn't appear to please everyone. Who did you want in the last window by the way?

In short the current Board are closing in on their sell by date and starting to get on my nerves. I am off to bed as there is nothing to challenge me out there tonight!

Fair enough. People are going to get impatient, as we have been waiting a long time for Falmer, but that is not the fault of the Board. It would be a bit off of them to pass their sell by date, when we are in the home straight in our Falmer campaign

I am off to bed as there is nothing to challenge me out there tonight! Other than brushing your own teeth and undressing yourself. ;)
