I realise there is gonna be a split of opinions here but do any of you think that a band may crank up the somewhat flat atmosphere a bit ?

It certainly seemed to do the Lincoln fans some good and the pompey fans always have a bell and drum to keep in time to even if it is fuckin annoying.

Also stop GOSBTS being sung too fast.

So drummers, rattles, bells etc - anyone up for it ? If nothing else it would be a laugh !

What do you wanna do then, sit in silence ? as I said yes it can be very annoying but did you go to pompey last year or sheff wed ? it certainly improves the atmosphere.

It doesnt matter what you do at Withdean, it will never generate a great atmosphere!

It only pisses off the visiting fans...so it serves a purpose.

Bournemouth fans banging the advertising boards at the back of their stand annoyed me but got their crowd going.

I've never been in favour of shit like that but maybe it's time to try something new. Let's face it-it couldn't make Withdean any worse than it is sometimes for atmosphere. Sometimes this season it's been dire.

It's not usually a problem at away games (noise from Albion fans).

Withdean on the other needs all the help it can get...so... put the band in the North Stand near the radio booth:lolol:

Quite agree, Wilko! Trouble is, we wouldn't be allowed to do it at Withdean as it would disturb the peace of this "select" residential area. As I said in another thread, the best atmosphere I've encountered at a match was the from the Dutch fans, with their band. Excellent!

As Fran says, we wouldn't be allowed to do it at Withdean although if anyone does play the trumpet they can try and bring it through the turnstiles.

When Ned was still a Wednesday fan I went with him a few times and sat in the Kop at Hillsborough.

The band was tremendous. It does get all the fans together and lift the whole place. You have to be in the same stand to really appreciate it (the roof slopes down at the front and keeps the noise in)
It does make the hairs at the back of your neck stand up when the whole stand is singing.

This is why that band was adopted as the official England band.

The band at Lincoln really rallied the fans ..i think it would definately help at Withdean if allowed.if only to stop the flat atmosphere . They could always be put in the corner so as not to be too close to the fans . But at Lincoln they were right in the middle of it all noone seemed to mind there !!

What about some ragtime jazz ? That way, you could be situated anywhere in the stands and still able to be part of the band with your instrument. Obviously the piano is inconvenient, but horns, small cymbals, banjos............

........err.............

....alright, I'll go get me coat .

What about the band dressed as Seagulls and every time we score they play "The birdy Song!"
