Yeah, good one.

Meanwhile, I've never had a bad experience at English's.
Hotel du Vin
Due South was pretty good. A friend of mine is a real snob about eating out and was raving about all aspects of this place. Personally, I wouldn't go as far as that, but, like I said - pretty good.
The Gingerman

And, as a surprise late entry, Cafe Paradiso at the Marina - yes, the Marina. Not bad at all there.

Except, by reports, for Latin in the Lanes.
No.
All. Italians. Are. Shit.

They'll charge you the thick end of a tenner for some pasta shells smothered in cheese sauce and a sprig of parsley. Or they'll give you a crappy thin based pizza thats no better than a £1.50 jobbie from Icelands, and charge you another tenner for it.

They don't even let you do your own PARMESAN for fucks sake.

I may well add that to my tuk tuk adventure next week, I was wondering what the hell I was going to eat down there and had resigned myself to Asda scotch pies in the car park

I know it's not Brighton and Hove but the Istanbul in Worthing is fantastic.

Great Service great food and very resonable. Highly recommend it!

It's a good laugh and the food is ok, but last time I went there was for a mate birthday and I had four shits in the honeyclub afterwards

Funny you should say that, went there on a work do last week and one of my colleagues was very sick the next day.

She had the mussels.

Mind you, she also had at least a bottle of wine :lolol:

Lati in the Lanes is well over-rated imo.

I like La Fourchette and Gingerman (unless you are a vegetarian in which case don't bother).

I also liked Loch Fyne (or however it was spelt) but then it got replaced by something I've not been to yet. Maybe I was the only one!

Oh, and the one with no name in Kemptown, 'restaurant with no name', 'no name', i can't remember.

1 Paston Place is meant to be the critic's choice but I've yet to go (its well expensive!).

Havana's is ok as long as you like waiting an hour for an extremely small portion. It tastes nice though!

FACT. Can never understand WHY people go out to eat Italian food. It's SHIT and BLAND and EASILY made at home. Peroni is PISSWATER as well.

Surprised Ashoka in Hove hasn't been mentioned yet. Top qualla curry foodness.

as 10cc say, not in hove
the best restaurant in brighton & hove is the REGENCY fish restaurant, by a country mile. fantastic food, and very brighton.

other notables:

otellos church road: excellent quality well-priced italian

1 paston place: very nice, way overpriced

casa don carlos: excellent tapas, good fun

hotel de vin: good food, pretentious without reason

seven dials: great food, one close miss with food poisoning there...

dorset: good fish, terribly slow

brighton has so many average restaurants it's unreal

Terre a Terre deserves a mention - you'd struggle to find better veggie food anywhere in the country.
