Best obscure album

Spain is a very good call. And so is The Chameleons.

Critically adored, but bizarrely not amongst the biggest bands ever: Godspeed You Black Emperor!

And one album I consider a true test for any muso: Ground Zero's Consume Red. Absolutely astonishing.

IMHO Momus released some classic albums on Creation in the late 80s - Tender Pervert and The Poison Boyfriend being two. An underrated genius, who else could have written a very dark tongue in cheek song about the apparent love between Torville and Dean entitled 'Love on Ice'

The Complete History of Sexual Jealousy and The Gatecrasher being my favourites from each album respectively. They still get a play in the trees household on a regular basis.

I'm glad I started this thread, it's given me a few interesting names to check out.

And good to hear that Josh Haden has a solo album coming out.

The Fall's first album, 'Live At The Witch Trials' was obscure when it was released. Probably isn't now, but was then. And as The Fall had a really-annoying-at-the-time policy of never playing anything other than new and therefore obscure stuff, there must be whole load of Fall fans who nmissed out on this classic track listing:

Side one
"Frightened" (Mark E. Smith, Tony Friel) – 5:02
"Crap Rap 2" / "Like to Blow" (Martin Bramah, Smith) – 2:04
"Rebellious Jukebox" (Smith, Bramah) – 2:51
"No Xmas for John Quays" (Smith) – 4:38
"Mother-Sister!" (Smith, Una Baines) – 3:20
"Industrial Estate" (Friel, Bramah, Smith) – 2:00
[edit]
Side two
"Underground Medecin" (Bramah, Smith) – 2:08
"Two Steps Back" (Bramah, Smith) – 5:03
"Live at the Witch Trials" (Smith) – 0:51
"Futures and Pasts" (Bramah, Smith) – 2:36
"Music Scene" (Bramah, Yvonne Pawlett, Smith, Marc Riley) – 8:00

We are NOT worthy. Fact.

Temple of the dog...Classic album.

Andy Wood RIP.

Andrew Wood, of Mother Love Bone, was a bit of a glam-rock fan. The course they might have stayed, if he had lived, would probably have not been as awful as 'grunge' turned out with Pearl Jam and some of Soundgarden's stuff, to name a couple of fairly dire examples. Nirvana were also horribly over-rated too, having made just one or two okay tunes.

Foo Fighters are a vast improvement, imo.

Worthing
The Chameleons, " Script of the Bridge" and their 2nd classic, "What does anything mean basically?"
They should have been massive. One of life's great injustices.

yES i agree - SCRIPT OF THE BRIDGE-

The Chameleons - the most underrated band ever.

My choice is: White Zombie - AstroCreep 2000
Bloody weird when I first heard it and very much out there at the time, quality album though with some cracking songs on it!
